New DVD Drive Found in Xbox 360: Philips VAD6037/21
Posted by XanTium | June 28 10:28 EST

A new brand/model of the DVD-ROM drive has been found in the Xbox 360: a Philips VAD6037/21. More work for the firmware hackers ;)
Below is a picture of this new drive.
The 2nd pictures shows all 3 Xbox360 DVD-drives known so far next to each other with open tray ... so you can easily find out which DVD drive your Xbox 360 has without opening the case or breaking the warranty, just compare the trays!

Uhm, dude... That's not a cover, the metal is just shaped like that. You could do a dremel cut though, for a raised window look. <shrug>

Am I the only one noticing that the phillips drive's faceplate isn't chrome?

Man I'de be pissed if I bought an xbox360 and it had some crappy white plastic faceplate with an oooooglah black tray coming out.

Maybe this is the M$ 'fuck you guys' drive in retaliation for the firmwarez smile.gif

WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO STOP YOU!!! BUT YOUR SHITS GONNA BE OOOGLAH!!! -Bill Gates.

ummm this is the same drive that was featured on the www.etech4sale.com site and it was noted that it's NOT a 360 drive, but a regular XBOX drive...

unless someone can show this Phillips drive installed in a XBOX 360 or show the backplane of the drive that distinctly shows the 360 power connector and SATA connector, I'm not buying that this is a new drive..

Uhm dude, maybe you need to clear the sleep out of your eyes. Do you not SEE the standoffs?!?!

XBox1 drives mounted completely different with screw holes at the top front and left bottom rear. Not to mention it's pretty damned hard to get a 360 faceplate on a xbox1 drive. Unless someone here at xbox-scene just doesn't have anything better to do then crazy glue shit together and laugh at our expense.
