I have seen the schematic of Dual FW...look like it a little bit easy on Samsung than Hitachi. But it's not a big deal if you guys have done the PS2 modchip. I can't wait to see the chip available. Gonna get at least 10 of them for fun. smile.gif

its been possible all along if you removed the chip and programmed the other version firmwares onto it, as the 46,47,and 57 drives are hardware identical the difference is that they are recompiles so the offsets end up different, as for the reading i heard they are all the same

Ok so if i am understanding this correctly you would desolder the chip from a 57 and flash it and put it on a 47 or 46?

I don't see how it can 'bypass' the dvd key - I think that would be similar to bypassing the HD lock on the Xbox1.

That is Wayy to many points to put down.. The first time thru would be like an hr for the amature. If it does not help with ripping the games - its just as usless at the MNE-360

i think its a bit wrong calling it a bypass its more like a mirror effect, but as for the research on real chips we dont stop our research cause someone released a firmware, infact quite to the oposite i personally have started harder and bricked my console in the process cause half the security is stripped out without removing the code that addresses it

read the front page's article, and they said, "Thanks to the ACTEL CPLD this modchip bypass the drive-key check; your original firmware stays intact all the time."

They by-pass the drive key by using address selection logic in their custom chip, very easy to do.

Basically since the drive key is also within a certain range of addresses in the firmware, and this
block of addresses don't contain any patched or different code, they just route the access between
the two firmwares like so.

Any address selection in the top half goes to their new hacked firmware

Any address selection in the middle part (where the drive key is), goes to the original firmware

Any address selection in the bottom half goes to their new hacked firmware.

Think of like this, their new firmware bank has a big hole in the middle of it, which is auto filled
in by using a chunk of the original firmware.

Exactly what GaryOpa said.

Which means you can't have 0800 on your original firmware chip.

Wow, I think the funniest thing about all these chips is that so far...the most simple chip the DevilMod by GRMods is the best one yet (or a homebrew cheapmod just using an SST chip). These modchip teams keep trying to make it easier for people by adding features, but at the same time, they take away by making it so you can't rip your own SS/Games.

It is exciting to see the 360 development continue. However I, too, am tired of these variations on the FW mod. I could not care less about "backups" of games - give me homebrew!

Of course, I am almost tempted to buy one of these chips just for the soldering pleasure/challenge.
