Would This Be A Problem? Options

so today i recieved another xbox 360 that locks up right after boot up. i took it apart to replace the thermal compound and found this....







are these something that would cause a problem? i mean there are spots all over the back of the mobo like this. the warranty sticker was intact so it has not been opened.

i tried to wipe it off and some of it did come off but some still remains. i went ahead and replaced the thermal compound with AS5 but still got the lock ups and freezing after boot up. no red lights.

this is my 5th xbox 360 that i have tried to replace the thermal compound with AS5. A few worked for awhile after the fix but eventually froze or gave 3 red lights. All of them have had hitachi drives if that means anything?!


anyways, just wanted to see what u guys thought about the pics.

well the manufacturing date on the back is 11/21/05. The sticker looked perfect but i guess the owner before could have takin his sweet ass time to take it off perfectly.

btw, i dont know why that first picture is so small. i might take it apart again and see if i can find any really obvious repairs. maybe their is just a bridged connection some place.

Dude: No shiat! When I took Mine apart for the first time. I saw that on the back of mine and tried to take off with Alcohol (Dries / evaporates quickly).

I simply thought it was the heat of the GPU/CPU and the A/C causing condensation on the board. Now that I see you have it too...I wonder.

Mine is a LAUNCH day box. I know I'm gonna curse myself...."knocks on wood" no problems for me yet though.

Mine was one of the 360's from Mountain Dew and it wasn't nearly as bad as yours looks. There was alot on there but not that bad. GEEZ! I got alot of it off of mine from what I can see. But my 360 still crashes. I thought it was condensation also.

i just took it apart again and now that i look at it more closely, it looks like moisture got inside. i will be posting pictures in a little while so show what i mean.

well i cleaned it up as best i could and when i put everything back together, i get error code 0021 now. which is a new error code also.

im gonna clean it again tomorrow and see if that fixes anything. and yeah im pretty sure some typle of liquid or moisture got inside. see pics.

yeah that looks like some sort of moisture, although my motherboard has that on the bottom too, and it has never had any encounter with moisture (and it works fine).

It is more likely residue left over from the solvent they use to clean off the flux in the board manufacturing process, and possibly unrelated to the problems you have, though cleaning it off is still a very good idea.

well i went ahead and tried to clean up the mobo again today. but instead of putting the mobo back into the case i just hooked it up on a piece of cardboard. when powered on the mobo exploded........




nah not really but it did boot into the xbox 360 logo. it immediately froze after that though. good thing is that i got rid of error 0021. bad thing is, im back to square 1.
