I was wondering what you all thought was the best HDD Replacement with a softmod tutorial was? I need to change my 8gb to an 80gb and I was just wondering what you all thought.

just download the xboxhdm and read the readme.txt inside. it's all explained in detail.
do not forget to add the eeprom.bin to the eeprom folder, and lock the hdd in the end using that.

quick question...when locking the hard drive should I use the automatic option? or use a password and if so which?

if you are feeling brave an xbox app called chimp26 will clone and lock a harddrive with nothing other than your xbox, just a few warnings

1. it requires hotswap dvd unplugged/ destination harddrive plugged
2. because of linux video driver issues on version 1.6 xboxes you cant read the tv screen to see the menu... there is a workaround for V1.6 xboxes that requires you to telnet to see the menu
