OK so ive just bought a 80gb Maxtor Diamondmax 16 HDD, to put in my xbox. For some reason the eeprom cant be read from the eeprom.bin ive got (located CD:/EEPROM/EEPROM.BIN). Not to worry, as i have it written down. Does it have 32 characters??? Also when i go to create the xbox hdd options 1-5 are disable, even though it has picked up the hdd? Any ideas of to how i can get around this?

how far does xboxhdm get when you try to create the HDD?
did you create the .iso correctly and burn as an image?

I cant even select the option to rebuild a hdd. I burnt the iso correctly, i did it twice just to double check. Perhaps its something to do with my pcs bios or something, i will try it on a different pc and get back to you all if im still having problems smile.gif

When you go to lock the drive, have the eeprom.bin file on a floppy disk. When Xboxhdm can't find the eeprom, tell it to look on the floppy. You should NEVER type in the key manually unless it is a last resort. Try options 6 then 7 on the menu to build a floppy with the locking tools. Type in atapwd and set the master password to XBOXSCENE then type in lockhd and it will lock it for you. You can go back to atapwd to verify it is locked.

You may want to run atapwd on this one just to make sure it isn't locked, as stated before.

to rebuild the drive it has to be unlocked (or hotswapped). once it is unlocked you can do anything you need to it (rebuild, etc.) whenever the options are disabled it means that the drive is still locked (can be recognized though). try unlocking it again or try hotswapping. some great tutorials for that are on this site.
