MediaCheck v2 Patch for All Hitatchi FW
Posted by XanTium | August 25 10:19 EST

Geremia made his MediaCheck v2 Patch (improved mediatype recognition) compatible with all the Hitachi-LG firmware version, the patch was previously already released for firmware v47-only. This patch can be applied with Birdy's Friendly Flasher:
[QUOTE]
A better patch for mediatype recognition, for all FW revisions. Tested on 47, untested on other fw revisions. Even if are untested, it should be quite safe to try, because modifications affects only a routine that is processed only with disk inserted.

Now all bitsetted, not bitsetted, "half bitsetted" (Plextor and LG produce "dvd-rom with burnable layers") DVD+R DL looks like pressed dvd-rom, with max allowed trasnsfer speed to around 1x, like originals, then at max speed (16x?!?) when unlocked, like originals.

Overwrite the patch.scp and reverse.scp in birdy flasher directory (thanks Birdy for the tools, much appreciated), restore to original fw (better with the flasher you used before), then flash again.
I've removed the F900core patch for v46.
Mediastealth is a pain, ehehhehe, hope for someone else to bring it up

i'm guessing there's no update from the previous mediacheck other than just making it compatible with all the other hitachi drives?

I already have a Pioneer 111D burner but my other computer has a Memorex DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner , would that one work with this new firmware?

I'm also waiting for this to get into GaryOpa's flash. Gary is the man but I can imagine he is getting sick of all of our "priority" updates.

Thanks to everyone involved in the development of these tools. Your work is highly appreciated and desperately underpaid.

Well done for another great job Geremia, much respect!!

Birdys flasher actually rox, it's awesome, but because of a bug it will kill v59 drives, it also seems this new patch does not work on the v46 drives either, I suspect it just needs a bit of tweaking in the script but I think the end user should really give this a miss at this time. Geremia perhaps you and birdy could get together and rock this box

BIRDY if your reading please just tweak your awesome flasher dude, to stop it killing v59 and add if you can find the time etc to add Geremia new code, then you will have the ultimate hitachi tool.

GaryOpa's flasher is by no means perfect it simply fails far too many times and has to be performed again and again until a flash is successfull, which on one occassion took me almost an hour before I had successfull flash. Birdy's flasher on the other hand flashes every time without a hitch, bar the bug in it that kills the v59, but his actual flashing routines are faultless, good work birdy even though your soft killed one of my drives I stil have much respect for you, keep it up.

GaryOpa's flasher works great, flashed about 25 different drives with no problems. So I dont agree..

i wish i knew it fried v59 at the time... i had one i bought and used the Xectuer adapter... i plugged the adapter in backwards w the dvd drive in it, it caught on fire, then i resoldered it and did w birdies flasher but it fried it... luckily my buddy worksa for geeksquad and let me return it, but it was a nightmare!!

yes, we really need all these great minds to get together and just make 1 all in one tool, instead of mixing and matching different features

dont get me wrong, im incredibly grateful smile.gif

thanks!

To Geremia:

The all versions release is good, same as my earlier conversion.

(I have a firmware converter program, makes it easy, but needs more fine-tuning).

Except that in your Birdy script for v58 and v59 drives, the needed sector (34000) is
NOT FLASHED so your "Media Detect v2" is never installed on v58/v59 drives.

---------------------------

Also on a side-note, I still running into problems with the Hitachi with the "Media Detect v2"
in playing games burned on the new SATA version of the Plextor burner, but they play fine
when loaded on a Samsung firmware.

---------------------------

By the way, still working on "Media Stealth", having problems with it playing all forms of games
and movies without hard-booting the system (turn off, wait a minute, turn back on).

But users have reported the same problem with "c4e" Xtreme v3.0, with it not playing XBOX
1 games (originals) and burned Movies, after playing a burned XBOX 360 game.
