Here's my situation.. already had an xbox with an Executer 2.3b lite. For some reason the chip or the connections to the board are shot, it suddenly stopped working, attempts at reflashing the chip have not solved the problem. System simply will no longer boot with the chip enabled.

So I figured I might as well try to softmod this system.. seems that SID 4.5 is the recommended package, however.. I already have a 250gb HD installed in the system due to my previous modchip installation. I can boot this drive up into the MS Dashboard just fine with no chip in the system.

Can I softmod this system with the 250gb HD installed?

Yes you can, there is no problem with a larger HDD already being installed.

Use Krayzies ndure installer.

i used sid 4 .. seemed alot easier to understand than Krayzies ndure installer. still going over the read.txt file

Yeah, Krayzie's installer has a ton of more features and it's more reliable. A bit more complex, but it's well worth it.
