Talked With Xbox During Some Live Cancellation, Firmware fix near? Options

Anyway, when I was calling xbox to cancel some live accounts I spoke with "Maleak" (he said he's the only maleak that works there) Anyway we had a pretty indepth discussion about the firmware hack (yes the whole office knows everything about it) Where as he said they don't have anything in writting about the new dash update or whether it will fix the firmware hack he did state this and I typed as he talked

"Our managers have said a few times that they know of a fix in the future and that it will be with a dash update."

He said that he was unsure of it would be with the most upcoming update or not, but that it would be fixed and they are working on it right now.

He also said that they have a database set up already for xbox360's using hacked firmware and it is being recorded as to who logged onto live with it so that even if the person changes back to orginal firmware they would still be on that list and banned as soon as the automatic system to detect the firmware was up and running.

I am curious if it would be a good idea to stay off of Xbox Live (membership expired anyways) or keep the Xbox disconnected from the network?

Part of the reason of getting an Xbox 360 was to work as a Media Center extender (more so when Vista is released.) No good if it is disconnected from the network.

Not to flame anyone, but why would M$ tell this info to there low level csr's? And you know they record all the calls that come in, so this guy giving out the info would potentialy jeopardize his job wouldn't you think. I'm thinking this is BS. So is M$ thinking along the lines of the psp with firmware updates for newer games? I think that would be a bigger headache than it's worth, bad flash etc.... Only time will tell. If people want to play backups/copies whatever they will find a way. And I wonder what the potential for hacking will be when the game designer hit, M$ is know for vunerability in there os....

this is crap. I talked to a friend of mine who works at the call centre here and he said its crap. Theyd never tell the csr's about anything like that until its just about to come into the loop. And as far as he knows there's no way they can tell who's using the hack atm. Now he did say the hack IS common knowledge and there's "specualtion" around the centre that a fix is coming but no one knows a damn thing and wont until the update is about to go live

Most of the time when I call M$ support, I end up knowing more than the customer support person. I really don't think they get told to much info. And if this Maleak or whatever is real, you just released his name and M$ can now fire the one and only Maleak they have
