Bonojourno,

After looking @ the DS and the PSP Ive come to one decision: neither are what Im after.......

The DS looks good - innovative and relatively cheap, but the only games id really consider getting are the new super mario bros and maybe metroid. Cheers andrew for all the suggestions in the other thread, but i think its not really worth my money considering that i'd only really be using it for 2 plane journeys....

The PSP on the other hand was expensive and too similar to the ps2 for my liking (but without thegames.)

So ive got a new choice to make..... rolleyes.gif
Stick with my old school gameboy and buy games @£2 a go on ebay.
Or get a gameboy advance on the cheap.

does anyone know:
The difference between the advance, and the advance SP? Is it just the clam shell?
The best games to get on the original gameboy (got SM 1&2, had link's awakening - but will buy again biggrin.gif - not interested in tetris anymore)? Good places to buy them from? (are they region free?)

And the same sort of info on the advance please biggrin.gif

Cheers,
Nick

The Gameboy SP and regular GBA are two completely different beasts, although both play standard GBA games.

The specs on both are the same, but the GBA SP folds up allowing the screen to be protected from scratches, and the most notable difference with the SP is that the screen is backlit...and trust me, this makes a huge difference!

Although you *can* add a backlight to the regular GBA, I don't see why anyone would want to.

My recommendation: GBA SP all the way.

As for Gameboy games, my all-time fav is Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins, I see you have that. I'm not too familiar with the scope of the library.

ahhh, yeah i remember that addition! cheers for the info. My mate has just told me he has a normal advance that he bought from china. Do you think the non backlit screen would be ok on a plane? (with the downlighting and all.....). Are they region free? or am i going to have to persuade a shop to let me try a uk game biggrin.gif

btw, am going to get a link to the past on the advance - thats whats swayed me happy.gif

me personally I think the screen is difficult to see in most lighting situations. The SP is well worth the extra money smile.gif.

As far as I know they are region free... I could be wrong.

cheers for the advice, but 'extra money' = the only money id spend. My mate will give me his normal advance for free, but the SP goes for around £40 on ebay.
yeah, think your right, the advance looks like its region free, but i still can't find a definative answer

If your in the UK, GAME are selling the GBA Micro at £40 atm, at least where I am they are. But I dunno much about the Micro tbh.

SP is a good choice, I used to have one and theyre a joy to use. Some games Id recommend, if you havent already played the, are the Pokemon games, even if you dont like Pokemon theyre decent games and very addictive.
