Assuming the upcoming HD-DVD addon is region coded, would you be able to use lets say an NTSC HD DVD player in a PAL 360? Is the region coding only the DVD drive flash, or is it coded elsewhere on the 360? Thanks smile.gif

Chances are it would use the region coding in the system kernel, but nobody can answer that for sure yet.

So im assuming none of these firmware mods have any effect on region coding so far. Or say if the DVD drive from one region system is exchanged with another region, it wouldnt make a difference.

Just curious, since im an american living in europe with a pal system and it would be nice to play my ntsc DVDs and get games at US release dates. smile.gif

Well Europe is currently a better place for releases right now anyway, the UK has had Just Cause, TDU, Saint's Row etc before anybody else, but there is no regional coding in the drive fw, so no, the fw hack will not affect it.
