arcade are usually around 25-30mb

games range from 500mb to 1.3gb, but most are around the 600-800 mark.

Some of the larger demos (600 megs on up) aren't actually that large when you download them. The PREY demo was reported to be 1.3gigs, but the actual bandwidth I used when downloading it was only about 800 megs, though it took up 1.3gigs after downloading. 500 megabytes is much larger than the NTFS formatting space "increase", so I think it was compressed.

Still, on dialup, that's fucking huge.

If you dial-up, you're wasting your time. Game demos are all huge.

These are the only ones I know of around the limits you listed:
Fuzion Frenzy demo is a bit over 200 MB, and Lost Planet, F.E.A.R., G.R.A.W. (online version), and BF2 demos are each over 300 MB but under 400 MB.

Here is a list of all the marketplace content... click a title to see the size
http://www.achieve360points.com/live/ wink.gif

according to that site the average game demo is 450MB and the average XBLA game is 25MB

Assuming the full bandwidth of 56K it would take you ~18.25 hours to snatch an average demo and as much as 92 hours to snatch the largest game demo, it would take you ~1.1 hours to snatch an average XBLA game and as much as 2 hours to snatch the largest XBLA game.

So XBLA games are do-able but I wouldn't bother with game demos... just order a subscription to OXM.

on dialup 100mb would take days... get a subsciption to oxm ( offical xbox magazine) with disc and you will get most of the same demos

Actually 100MB would only take about 4.5 hours (at full 56K)

Even still I agree that an OXM subscription would be best.

Since FCC regulations prevent full 56K speeds, Moby Dick may be best biggrin.gif
