Hi,

My mate got a 360 today opened it up, Hitachi (GDR-3120L), I can flash these no problem smile.gif

Hooked it up, everything in place, drive in Mode B with Slax CD Windows detected it!

Then decided to check the ROM version, it was a bloody 0078FK!

Just wondering if anyone has seen these before or if anyone knows how long or if there will be an upgrade for the firmware...

I live in Autralia by the way and it was a premium pack

Any help would be appriciated

Thanks

For anyone to start looking at it they will need a dump of the fw. I havent seen this posted anywhere else, so they may not have it yet or know about it. If the fw is similar with minor changes, then it shouldnt take long at all (different sectors to flash, etc...).

Caster.

It took literally days for the other hlg models to be done after commodore cracked the 47.

This shouldn't take too long, on a seperate note, has anybody come across a Philips drive yet ?

I think Philips were only in the dev kits....I believe Lite-On will be the next model of 360 drives we see.

NEWS QUOTE:
Lite-On IT Corp. is reported to begin shipping Microsoft stand-alone high-density digital versatile disc (HD DVD) players for Xbox360 game consoles in the first quarter of 2007, Lite-On's another big windfall after landing orders to supply DVD-ROM players for Xbox360s.

I'm thinking that there won't be a lot of difference between the Lite On drives and the ones that we already have though because they would need to pretty much overhaul a lot of the way in which the console works to take security checks completely out of the drive fw.

Hmm. Love MS, something new to play with, big jump from 59 to 78,
I hope they did a number of good changes.

Anyway, if someone is kind enough to email us the dump, we will
release a new package within 48 hours for you all.

Use the "rogers" email in our sig. below

If you can get the drive see in Windows, run our current package, and then email us the
WAS.BIN file from the backup directory, and we will be able to update and release a new
package shortly that will be able to flash this drive.

From testing you might only be able to get the drive in ModeB using the Slax CD, as it
looks like the "debug" mode via "cross-wire" and/or TeamX kit is non-operation now on
this new firmware/hardware design of the drive.

If you can't get the drive into ModeB (in windows), then could you please take a high-res
scan of the mainboard inside the drive for comparing to older drive models.

The initial post said that the drive was picked up in Windows through slax.

I'm going to try the slax cd can I use the team X kit to just power the drive and have both buttons up? also if windows locks up can I use the xecuter to eject the Hitachi drive?

When I backup the firmware won't it try and flash the drive too and make the drive not work, or will it just back it up and bring an error up ?I have only done 2 Hitachi's before using the Xecuter kit.
