360 version: v1 (xenon)

XboxMediaCenter CVS build of October 15th 2006 compiled by T3CH.

This is a complete snapshot of what is in CVS at the time the build was compiled, with just a few small additions:
* Killarny & Nuka1195 & Pikes AppleMovieTrailers (AMT) 0.92 (scripts: Apple Movie Trailers)
* BritneysPAIRS's ~110 choosen Milkdrop presets (visualisations: MD - BPs Selection)
* EnderW's XBMCScripts Installer 1.0 SCRIPT (scripts: XBMCScripts)
* Codecs for mplayer (system\players\mplayer\codecs\:*)

Special Note From T3CH:
QUOTE

* Oops, accidentally included wrong AMT last time. So this time I include 0.92. If you get any issues with AMT, delete old AMT before uploading. AMT Tip: Set Thumbs to Movie Poster to avoid the constant navigation delay.

* Here we are, 2.0.0 is out in the wild. Bugs have been found and fixed. Rumour has it Team XBMC is planning a 2.0.1, so if you wan't an issue fixed, same old rules apply, you must report it.

* If you want to report bugs, please do it the PROPER way, see http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index....oper_Bug_Report

NOTEWORTHY, XML and SCRIPT CHANGES IN THIS BUILD:
QUOTE

* sources.xml:
* Keymap.xml: reintroduced 'B' as STOP while in videomenu since we didn't have any way to exit out from dvdmenu with controller.

Here is the FULL changelog since the October 03rd 2006 CVS build (last one posted on xbins/xbox-scene):

- 14-10-2006 fixed: scanning of multipath bookmarks would not prompt for "scan new" or "scan all"
- 13-10-2006 changed: keymap.xml: reintroduced 'B' as STOP while in videomenu since we didn't have any way to exit out from dvdmenu with controller.
- 13-10-2006 fixed: http client wouldn't report failure to open on 404 errors from server
- 11-10-2006 changed: better solution for multichar ftp listings, wich also fixes issues introduced in last attempt

INSTALL NOTES from T3CH readme/nfo:
QUOTE

* APPLICATION INSTALL
- Fresh Install: Transfer _whole_ XBMC folder to your APPS folder (or where you want it).
- Upgrade: Backup the XBMC\UserData folder. Transfer whole XBMC folder to Xbox. Overwrite UserData folder with your backed up copy.

* DASHBOARD INSTALL (SOFTMODS)
ARE NOT COVERED IN THIS README, SEE http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=406656

* DASHBOARD INSTALL
- Option 1. Team XBMC's shortcut tool.
It's included in the _tools folder as <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>> + <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.cfg>>.
Instructions here: http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard (Option 1).
Rename the <<SHORTCUT by TEAM XBMC.xbe>>+.cfg & also EDIT the .cfg so it matches your config.
See APPLICATION INSTALL above.
- Option 2. Thanks to an app called 'Team UIX's Xbe Shortcut Maker v1.0' by JbOnE, it's now easy...
Transfer contents of XBMC folder (this is VERY important since the tool is hardcoded) TO "E:\APPS\XBMC\". Rename <<SHORTCUT by TEAM UIX.xbe>> to something your bios can boot (see http://www.xboxmediacenter.com/wiki/index....=As_a_Dashboard or read your BIOS README) and transfer to location your mod solution boots. No need to fiddle with HOME tag anymore, and future upgrades you need not to worry about this file (unless you move XBMC).

* UPGRADE TIPS
If you're updating from a VERY old/bad build you may get issues. Follow these simple rules:
- Replace (FTP OVERWRITE) all files in your XBMC folder with fresh ones from your new build
- Delete old settings (from UserData/guisettings.xml)
- In some rare cases some of the database files in UserData/Database/*.db may need manual deletion (usually if they are very old). Note: This loses all per file settings you made with the old build!

INFORMATION from T3CH readme/nfo:
QUOTE

XBMC's online manual can be found at http://wiki.xboxmediacenter.com/ .
Any questions or support issues, are best asked in the XBMC support forums, which are located at http://forum.xboxmediacenter.com , or in the official IRC support channel, #XBMC on EFnet. (NOTE folks in #XBMC can't help with info where to find builds)

If you want other skins (make sure they are up-to-date and compatible before installing them), see
- http://www.allxboxskins.com/skins/index.ph...=XBMC&cat=0 or

This is a CVS, not a point release.

I like the RSS feed being smooth again, but now scrolling through my 202 music folders is jerky. Used to be much smoother, viewing files with Icon view and 190+ of the folders have folder.jpgs. Even under library view it seems jerky. Playing around with it some more it happens under ann view, i.e. list, regular icons, and big icons. It is smooth if the first or last of the folders are on the screen
- 09-10-2006 changed: Thumbnail loading in the playlists folder of library view is now background threaded.

Doesn't happen in programs or videos, but neither one has 200 folders in it.

Nevermind, deleted the music thumbs and now it is working smoothly. It was a fresh install, odd.

Great job guys

For those that aren't familiar with programmer's speak:

CVS is a special "repository" or storage location. CVS is where all the programmers send their "changes" "updates" or other additions to the program in question.

A version from CVS means that someone took the time to pull the newest version of the program avaialble from CVS, compiled it, and packaged it. "Newest Versions" usually contain the latest bug fixes AND the latest bugs! The latest bugs are introduced (by accident of course) when programmers add new functionality or new features to a program.

Anyone that has access to the repository (just about anyone that knows how) can pull the latest version from CVS and compile it.

Point Releases on the other hand are when the programmers themselves (or the leaders of the team of programmers) get together and decide when *most* of the bugs have been fixed and as few as possible bugs remain. They provide a "point release" which means they give it an official version number. This serves as a "snapshot" of the code at a particular time.

What this all means to you: If you want as few as bugs as possible no matter what new cool stuff might be available then stick with the point releases and their "patches" which fix major usability problems. If you are like most people and love to play with new features, get as many bug fixes as possible, and don't mind having the absolutely "latest version" which doesn't have much or any testing then go with the CVS releases in between point releases.

Personally, I like to keep my XBMC as up to date as possible... lots of fun stuff to play with. Also if you find bugs you need to report them. There is a "proper way" to report bugs in the link provided in the news listing for the XBMC release. Don't report bugs that are in old versions of XBMC. ONLY report bugs that you have confirmed exist in the newest CVS release.

XBMC is the ONLY thing that keeps my xbox alive.
People that see it tend to favor my old 01' xbox over a real X360, and I have to agree with them thanks to Team XBMC.

Nice, this version doesn't lockup/freeze on HDD Info with my Seagate 7200.9 400GB HDD. Love the RSS scroller being smooth again =)
