Last week i updated my modchip from a 2.3B lite to a X3ce everything seems to work except Mercenaries playground of destruction. The game would freeze sometimes with the 2.3b lite chip but not all the time. But now with the X3ce the game wont even play it will load then as soon as the graphics start at the first splash screen with the white text it goes straight to dirty disk error. It does this from the disk and the hard drive. I have 2 xboxs 1 is a v1.0 and the other is v1.6 i upgraded them both with the x3ce chip and flashed them v1.0 with the x3294 and the v1.6 with x3 3294 v16plus bios both had evox. Needless to say neither will work so i changed the v1.0 dash to avalaunch and deleted evox from it hopeing this would fix the problem by just switching dashboards but still no luck. So i have 2 xbox different dashboards different version xbox. It would work with the 2.3b chip but now it doent work with the x3ce chip. Any guess as to why. I have cleaned the cache and deleted the game save. Tried to patch the .xbe file with Qwix. Tried 0.7.6 and .07.7 dvd2 xbox to save to hard drive still nothing. The disk works with chip off ive run out of ideas.

Come on fellows any suggestions. Im not a newbie Just dont ask many questions ive been a member here for almost three years. I put this in the HDD backup section and it was moved to the newbie section guess i named it wrong. Any body have anything to add. Ive been modding xboxes for three years and never asked for any help this just has me stumped. I know from reading these forums for over two and a half years theres is alot of smart people here. I did search the forums before i posted and seen 1 other post about this game it was'nt answered. I didnt want to highjack the guys thread so i started this one. I like to think im not a Newbie I have modded over 20 boxes in the past three years. But if a Newbie can give a suggestion to fix the problem then by all means please do. Believe me i have solved all of the problems in the past without asking for help. I guess if you dont have alot of post your automatically a Newbie. I have learned alot through this site thats why i dont have many post there has been no need to post the answer was always right here if you just looked and read. If i missed the answer some where then please let me know.

The backup should work fine from disk or hard drive so i would say the problem is your image or game. Does your original act the same way (it shouldn't)?

Thanks ModdingManiac for the advise. The original disk would work with the chip turned off but not with the chip on or from the hdd packup. I got to thinking back and remembered my PS2 would play some movies and backups but not all and i had to take the dvd-rom apart and clean the lens with a Qtip and alcohol and water mix. The disk cleaning cd didnt seem to work on the ps2 so i thought id try that. So i took the dvd-rom out of my xbox took it apart and cleaned the lens with a Qtip and alcohol and water mix. Put it back together turn the chip on put the game in and it worked. So i backed it up to the hdd and it worked. Dont know why it would read with the chip off and not with the chipon but any way i got it fixed. Strange but glad i got it working. Thanks for your advise.
