I can't figure this out, obviously. I am hoping this is a problem everyone encounters when they install mednafenx-nes but I can't find an answer for it here. The color is washed out really bad on the games. When I load Super Mario Bros, for example, the background of the title screen is brick red, the only other colors you can see are pink and green. Almost like a negative, or really poor contrast.

This doesn't occur in the mednafenx-nes game selection screen, or anywhere else except when running the ROMs in the emulator. I haven't installed any other emus to try to run them and see what happens. Does anyone know what is causing this? Thanks.

Sorry for the bump. Anyone know of a better place I can ask this question? Thanks.

Strange problem blink.gif

some questions :

1 - what kind of tv are you using? normal? plasma? lcd?
2 - do all your roms fuck up?
3 - did you try a complete reinstall? (remove emu, remove emu save from msdash, fresh install)

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't had an opportunity to mess with it at all until tonight.

1) It's a normal TV
2) All the ROMS fuck up the same way.
3) Yes, I deleted everything off the xbox and reuploaded all the ROMS and Mednafenx-NES and had the same problem.

Here is a screenshot taken by Mednafenx-NES of what the problem looks like.

Just to be sure I didn't - uh - create the roms incorrectly wink.gif - I loaded the same game in a PC emulator and the color displays properly.

Thats fucked up, i never had that problem myself.

Normally i'd advice that you remove the emulator savegame but you said you already did that..

try getting fceultra-x from xbins and see if you still get the same problem. (its also a nes emu)

Try deleting mednafenx-nes's .ini file, and before you select a game, highlight and push the black button and delete all saves to see if that'd fix anything. The colors don't looked washed-up per se, looks like the roms are being played back in a weird monochromic pattern. tongue.gif

OK, so this exact same problem plagued me for weeks after I upgraded from fceultra to mednafen and no one seemed to be able to even duplicate it let alone provide a solution. Everyone I talked to swore up and down that it must be a problem with my hdtv, which I knew it wasn't because a handful of games still displayed their proper colours. Turns out its a very easy fix though. In the config menu for each game just turn on "autogenerate NTSC palette" that should get you back to more than just green and fuschia. Can we add this to a sticky or something?

Well deleting his game config settings would've fixed that as well. Sticky? It seems unlikely here, but maybe it'd get added in xport's forums in a mednafenx-nes's thread. wink.gif

It has been added to V2.1 of the answer thread, when i put up the new version you can find it under Nes emulator problems.

Thanks guys! Deleting settings.ini appears to have fixed it.
