Hey, im at college on my laptop so i dont have my desktop with spare hard drives. Anyway I was planning on formatting my laptops hd, but i have alot of files that I want to keep and I was just wondering if I can transfer them to my xbox 360's hd, and then be able to transfer them back after I format. I have media center on my laptop now, I just want to know if I will be able to send files back and forth.

I have about 10 gigs worth of music, files, and other random stuff that I wanted to back up. I just want to know if its safe/possible to back it up on the 360, format my laptops hd, and then transfer it back to my laptop.

Nope, at this time impossible unless you hook the HDD up to your laptop using SATA, then do some other things. You could use it as storage in that manner... but then you can't watch them on the 360 or play them. So, via FTP or anything over the network, no. If you want to open some of the 360's components and void your warranty or buy an HDD adapter, then yes but you still can't play them off it.

I'll probably just burn the dvd's, but if i were to transfer them to the hdd i wouldnt try to watch videos or listen to music. Just for storage.
If you do that... then .zip or .rar (I prefer .rar) the files, then burn them to a DVD or dual layer (if you can). That will let you use as few DVDs as possible.
