Hey guys. I have searched and searched and haven't found an answer, so I am hoping that you guys can help me. I have modded a few Xboxes, but I have hit a wall on this one.

I installed an X3ce into a v1.4 xbox, and I was doing this reeeeally late at night. My dumb ass ran the reset/eject cable to the alt. 5v connection point on the modchip. Needless to say, when I plugged in the power cord for the xbox it turned on by itself and smelled horrible. As soon as I opened the xbox I saw what I had done. I unplugged it from the 5v connection point and plugged it into the right spot. Here's where things stand. The power button wouldn't work, but the eject button would. It would try to start twice and turn off, and it would start on the 3rd attempt and flash green, no video though. Holding down the eject button wouldn't open the drive, but would either result in a solid orange light or a frag. I replaced everything I could think of - power switch, dvd-rom, power supply. I tried putting in another mod chip to see if that was the problem, but it did the same thing.

Moving on.... I got ahold of a v1.6 xbox, soldered everything up, and tried the modchip from the above install. Same thing - power button doesn't work, flashes green after 2 restarts, no video. Putting in a known working modchip gets the same errors. Running without the mod chip, power button still doesn't work but will power on with the eject button and go to M$ dashboard.

What is the deal? Hopefully someone can help me out on this one.

Forgot to add some things. After turning on the xbox with the eject button, after it flashes green it turns orange. Also, this is strange - on the chip the red and green leds are backwards - even though it says "red protect/ green unprotect", putting the switch to protect gives a green led and red for unprotect. Again, after completely removing the modchip from the system, the power button does not work but the eject does, and it goes to the dash as mentioned above.

Did you make sure that the pin header your using has pins 4 and 6 removed (ie. so that it looks the same as the pinheader supplied with the X3CE?

Mine had similar problems because I was using a pin header from a DuoX2 chip...

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the reply. I've been so busy I haven't had time to mess with it again until now. From reading online, it looks like I used too much solder on the pin header and that some things are touching that should not. I'll try and find the link and post it.

If anyone would like to help install this, I'd appreciate it very much. I'm just not good enough at soldering to do it. I just need the pin header de-soldered and redone (I think the LPC rebuild is okay, but it might need redone too). I know how to do the rest, I just can't solder for spit. Just post and let me know what you would charge. Thanks!
