a friend who has two xboxes swears that his 1.5 w/Focus encoder looks significantly better than his 1.0 w/Conexant encoder, and I was wondering if there is any actual difference between the different encoders. A google search came up empty

thx

There may possibly be a difference in quality between the three encoders, but none that the human eye can see, IMO.

Personally though, I prefer the Conexant encoder for VGA compatibility.

dude there is 1.5 xbox... 1.0 - 1.5 n 1.6 - 1.6b. There is no diffrent in picture quality.. if there is it at all its not noticable. V1.0 and 1.1 xboxs will always be the best around.

I modded his box, and XBMC calls it a 1.5. I know that the line between 1.4's and 1.5's is a bit blurry. But they do exist =)
