should i be worried about doing the dash update because of the fact i never got the spring update cause i never plugged my 360 into the internet yet (E66 or E71). i have an earlier console and am mainly worried about E71 (i know it is said to only have happened on new consoles without the spring update, but what about older ones without the spring update)? dont some new games have updates on them, any news about these causing errors? would it be safer getting the update from LIVE rather then when i have to install it from a future game disc that requires it? i know this isnt the right place to post this but i cant get answers anywhere else and more people read these posts then anything else. any info would be nice.

ts-ms25 drive running 3.3

From what I understand, the fall update has been fixed so no E71's. If you want to be safe, you can get the spring update first, by running a game that has it on disk.

I have a samsung ms25 with xtreme4.2a on it, so it appears like ms28. Should I update my drive to xtreme 4.2a Rev.1 that it appears like ms25 with "Make X42a.bin Report as MS25" ?

The modifed firmware is *only* for those folks who get E66. If you dont get E66, then you dont need it.

Hey, good stuff, doesn't apply to us Hitachi-LG owners, but this issue didn't apply to us in the first place.

Anyway, great job on the fix!

MR

It does if you ever have your drive fail and want to replace it. Also it looks like if you have a 78 you can swap in a sammy with this

i had a hitachi. Then i got a ms25 and flashed it with 4.2a and got an e66 error. I would like to update to this but my drive does not attempt to spin up the 0800 disk. Nothing went wrong with the initial flash either. I tried with the x kit and the 360.

You will be fine with the standard 4.2x. Only end of May/June MS25 should use the modified firmware "Report as MS25 4.2x"

Does it spin other disks? Perhaps something went wrong with the drive

Hello,
I recently bought another 360 (last Sunday). I dont know what date or anything the DVD drive was made but I have updated already to the fall update and want to flash with Xtreme. Could I Xtreme 4.2 Rev1 anyways or only for people who had problems with the error. I would like to use the newest and most up to date.

Need for speed carbon does. Fresh box , updated with need for speed carbon and dash is now 2.0.2868. Spring update was 2857 and fix to spring update is 2858. Fall update is 4532 , so carbons update is somewhere inbtween the lastest spring update and the fall one.

Your drive is probably a MS25 made in March 2006 since mine was made on May 19 and has a MS25 made in March 2006. Flashed with the old Xtreme 4.2 with no E66.
