Destructoid mole: Microsoft announcements coming around Nov. 22?
Posted by XanTium | November 8 11:55 EST

From destructoid.com (rumor warning!):
[QUOTE]
One of the first big waves the mole drops on us has to do with Microsoft and some major announcements due around the pivotal shopping period of Nov. 22. Here's a look:

* On the hard drive: They are going to announce and release 80GB or 100GB hard drives, but not sure yet which one but possibly both. As well as the future 160GB and 200GB options.
* Cables: HDMI cables and prices should follow this hard drive news. Expect a $69.99 price.
* Game price drops: The Outfit for the 360 is dropping to $10 at Best Buy "FOR SURE." It's also a solid rumor that many will drop to $15 and $20 through the holidays. Madden 06, PDZ, THUG, King Kong, NHL06, Ridge Racer (already is) and most dated sports games.

Bigger hard drive sounds good. I'll have to probally dump all my files over to the new one.

HDMI cable. What about DVI-D?

im still good on the hdd. I have like 4 gigs of music and I barely ever get through it all. theres still like 7 gigs left and I have several demos and videos on there too. It's great, but unless I start seeing some REAL video files, like full length shows and movies... then I wont need it. Hell, even with the new content supposedly on the horizon, I'll probably still be good.

When and if games (besides FF) start using up the hdd, that will be the time for the something like this.

I would really like the see ps3 start using up their hdd, since they are so fucking vocal about what theyu have and their stance (especially after the ps2 hdd 'fiasco'.... though the hdd is really cool to hack on a ps2).

Okay. I'm ready to 'de-virginize' my gears of war.

Mothertrucker.

Bigger drive, for sure. HDMI cable, a must. Couple that with a wireless headset and nobody is getting anything for Christmas from me.

HDMI is DVI-D, with digital audio (splitter can be sold separately).
This seems a fake.
HDMI requires a proper chip that works the TMDS handshake (with or without HDCP) and have to carry out digital signals so it can be accomplished only if the board was designed to explicitly support it and it cannot be added later (expecially because the X360 have to put, on some pin, digital data).

More than this HDMI "standard" has one 165MHz channel that can barely handle 1080i (1080p@30Hz) while you need an "advanced" (hacked?) one, like PS3 claims to have to support higher resolutions & refresh rates.
DVI-D comes with a 1 (that's almost an HDMI cable) and a 2 channels "version" to accomodate bandwidth requirements for higher resolutions.

If it's the case why there isn't an HDMI or DVI-D cable out ?
It's unbelievable that they waited two years to make a big bang now...

HDMI = DVI-D with digital audio. Theres no conversion required, just an adapter to go from one format to another. However, since DVI-D does not have audio, it would not make sense to do it that way.

laugh.gif I find that pretty funny.

Bigger hard drive will deffinatly be a bonus and a genuine HDMI cable sounds nice too, problem is the price they seem to ask for these things, give it abit of time for the cable though and i reckon the prices will drop considerably.

Never heard of this blog before, therefore I'm gonna take this news with a grain huge pile of salt, especially when it comes to the HDMI cable which I've longed for since day 1.

Like Contezero said, the 360 doesn't have the necessary hardware to pump out a true HDMI digital signal. Is there a possibilty you can "fake" it and still output graphics, just without the HDCP info?

Of course. All you have to do is basically convert the analog to digital. You only need 100MHz for HDMI video @ 1080P. The only real problem is sending over the audio, which shouldn't be a big deal at all.

Expect a box with the XBOX 360 connector on 1 end and HDMI on the other.

If it was *JUST* a cable for $70 no way. 6" HDMI cable is $6. Adapter, sure.

I would get one just so I can clean up the cabling.
