I recently got a new LCD tv. it was foreign, have no idea what brabnd it is, and couldent read the box. it has no composite cable jacks, only component, the red white and yellow ones. And a scart and then a VGA port. I assumed that it would be HD ready if it has a vga port? anyway i got a official VGA cable, which works fine on my tiny lcd pc moniter, btu when i try it on teh tv. i get tears, liek the top half of the creen and bottom dotn align, well they allign when nothin is moving, but its as if, the top screen moves 2 seconds slower than teh bottem half, so its all un-alligned. this happens on all resolutions. any ideas?

I think you mean that it has COMPOSITE video. Composite is the yellow connector (red/white are audio), whereas COMPONENT is the red, green, and blue connector.

You could always try an SCART to Component adapter, and see if your tv doesn't tear with that input:

Of course, this may (as in: most likely) won't work, as SCART is RGB, and Component is YPbPr. IT could be some "magical" product though, as converting usually requires some form of "Black Box" converter hehehe. I do remember some Sony TV came with a converter cable that had everything built in, but it's probably really expensive to find now.

it sounds like your TV doesn't support HD resolutions.

the tearing you see is the horizontal sync being too fast meaning it's not a VGA port it's an RGB port (which looks exactly the same but requires a slower horizontal sync).

Get yourself a SCART adapter and it will probably work better.
