Intercooler's Cruel Irony
Posted by XanTium | November 12 17:17 EST
From kotaku.com: [QUOTE] You may have heard the rumors going around about the Nyko Intercooler. What was meant to help your Xbox 360 from overheating is actually causing it's own kind of burnout. Reader Ben M. sends in these pictures of the Intercooler he bought for his system along with the horror story of what happened when he put it in use. "As you can see, this product, although a great idea and it actually works, can be a serious fire hazard. Just check out what it did. Not to mention it melted one of my Xbox360 power connector covers which is still inside the Intercooler. Burnt, may I add."

I have had mine on my xbox since day one of buying it and I have never had any problems with it. That is 6 months. I am sure it was a bad batch and they better start recalling them now before it gets worse. I got the intercooler and the fan stand, both of them work great because I leave the fan stand on for like an hour or two after playing and it cools down the box some more. No mods to either one. Just seems like the xbox is a little to picky this time and I don't plan on moddin this until more features are available like old school nes and crap. So if you got a intercooler lately take it back till all the bad ones are recalled just wouldnt take the chance. Plus all the 360's work good without all the fans if you got them out in the open. If you got it in a entertainment center then you would want these extra fans.

Wow.
After numerous reports of these things either burning up or blowing out the 360 AND Microsoft coming out and saying that it is a draw on the system and will damage it, people are still using them and calling it bullshit.

I put one of these things on my box when I first bought it four months ago. It would cause errors, make strange noises, and generally screwed things up. I took it off and have had no problem since.
