Just wondering.... since there are HDMI -> DVI convert cables, is it possible to hook ps3 up with normal PC LCD monitors using HDMI-DVI cable? Seems like PS3 don't have naive VGA support as xbox360... if it works, what resolution will I get on the monitor?

It should be. I use a DVI to HDMI converter to use my PC on my flat panel. SO, it should work the other way.

As long as the monitor is DVI-D it should work.

You will get an image on the screen but good luck matching resolutions, it seems the PS3 dosn't have very much flexability whn it comes to that department.

The best resolution to get would be 1280x720
which would be a 19" or 20" widescreen

You could get a 19" full frame on the cheap that support 1280x1024 but that will give you a letterboxed image (black bars top and bottom).

Your other option is to go for the cheaper 1440x900 resolution monitors, just make sure they can accept a 1280x720 resolution... those might look kind of crummy though considering LCDs don't scale very well.
