Microsoft Inadvertently Confirms Gears of War Trilogy
Posted by XanTium | November 21 16:49 EST
From teamxbox.com:
On several occasions, CliffyB has been asked about a follow-up to Gears of War but he has avoided confirming a sequel. Despite that, it seems that Microsoft is already counting on a Gears of War trilogy.
In an interview with GameDaily, Jeff Bell, the Corporate Vice President of Global Marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business unit at Microsoft, has accidentally confirmed that the publisher plans a trilogy of games set in the Gears of War universe. Speaking on the "Mad World" commercial, Bell said: "The goal of this ad is to establish Marcus Fenix as the hero of the Gears of War trilogy."
wow, that's strange...quite early in the franchise...
.. not strange at all.
Long before this was released.. back in the days when this was supposed to be a 360 launch title I'm sure plans were made to tell the story in multiple segments. any really good story.. is well planned and conceived ahead of time.

I havn't had a chance to play it yet, but am dying to play it after some in game footage i realised i missed. I can't wait and a trilogy sounds amazing. The good thing is, i reckon they could use the same engine, cos if its just a continuation of the same story, the game could be exactly the same with a different story, maybe more advanced mutliplayer or suttin.
I dunno if anyone gets what im getting at, but from what i've seen, its awesome and i don't think they need to change it heaps like what has been done with halo, cos there is a lot of room for error there. I reckon this could really work well

agreed.
a trilogy is a nice way to tell a complete story. no rush needed. if nothing else, hardcore fans will be loyal to the series as long as the game maintains its roots and doesn't go all over the place.

I hope one is a prequel, because the game really does call for one. The game starts off 14yrs after emergence day, so I would like to have the game start when the enemies actually invade earth. Plus, "the stranded" lets us know that most people live somewhere else now, while Earth is being overrun. And, the game shows us where Marcus had his trial that would later put him in prison. Maybe the prequel ends with him being unable to save his dad and then he is locked up for 14yrs. I'm guessing the environment would be the same in the prequel, only it wouldn't be destroyed and run down.
