Is there an error code on the repair screen? probably not, otherwise you would of mentioned it.

I think the repair screen comes up when it encounters an error when executing the original dashboard
If you had a locked drive problem, then you will get an error code screen.

Try booting with an evox disk ( even slayers auto installer )
You can then ftp to see the files on disk
at least you can see if the disk is locked and accessible.

An unlocked drive can still be read if you have a modded box.

My guess is just a damaged default.xbe file ( or evoxdash.xbe )
just copy the one from the cd
