Team Underdog announced NME-360 v1.2 DVD Firmware PatchMod

NME v1.2 nearly there...
Fasten your seatbelts because we are ready to launch the incredible NME v1.2 Modchip in a few days. The most important spec is that it's just one chip for all drives now supporting ALL Samsung and ALL Hitachi drives, even the new 78 ones. We found that there are some different Hitachi 78 drives in the market and so it took a lot of work and time to implement them all.

The new features are:
* one chip for all drives
* optional disables the wireless network usb adapter
* optional enables network when playing linkgames
* new improved and very stable media detection
* now working with pioneer 111d and hitachi drives flawlessly
* 100% Firmware Stealth, when MS tries to read the Firmware then it replies as 100% original unmodified

In NME v1.1 we've had a small issue with games which have been burnt in a pioneer 111d writer. This was due to the fact that 111d is writing some sectors different from all other writers and so our mediadetection couldn't recognize the media as a valid backup when inserted in a hitachi drive. This issue has been solved 100% by our fantastic software engineer.

And now everybody hold your breath, take a few seconds of silence and bow down because we will show you the first picture of our NME v1.2 Modchip:

The firmware mod is of cause only free if you do it yourself. I have the impression that 90% or so, who have their xbox 360 firmware patched, actually payed some one else to do it for them.

Of cause if you put up a poll on this site, the result would properly, show that people do it them selves - but most people who payed to have it firmware modded properly don't even visit here.

The point is: most people pay to have their box modded, and the price difference for a chip mod and a firmware mod is next to nothing. So even though people may argue that the firmware is free and the author of the firmware are not making money off this - other people are. And therefore it is not a valid argument to firmware flash over chipping, only because it is free.

There may however in the future be other arguments, that firmware flashing is a better solution than chipping, but the reason is not that it is free, unless you can do it yourself (which most people can't or are willing to).

Why would anyone choose a modchip instead of just flashing the firmware? I don't see any reason :S

Exactly. Also, some people may not want to risk being banned from Live.

the hitachi 78k has rolling code in the eeprom so how does the underdog chip get round this?
it wont have on the fly patching because each 78k drive's key is located at different byte address's so how do they get round it?

lol i reckon its market hype

but i'll wait and see if its true

A huge risk it is too, its happened to so many people its scary, it could just happen anytime, in fact, thats like the reason why I never leave my house - I don't want to risk being eaten by a dinosaur dry.gif
