Microsoft: We're Still on for 10M
Posted by XanTium | November 30 14:37 EST

From next-gen.biz:
[QUOTE]
Speaking at a Credit Suisse conference in Scottsdale, Arizona, chief financial officer Chris Liddell said, "We're very happy going into the holiday season. We still feel very good about the 10 million target." Microsoft believes it can sell a further five million units by the middle of 2007. No targets have been set for the end of next year.

10,000,000

That's quite the amount of zeros.

Aren't they past 7 million already? ~3 million should be nothing...especially with christmas coming up.

At our local Futureshop the manager stated that at the PS3 launch they sold the first 10 people in line a PS3, then next 40 people bought a special Gears of War xbox 360 bundle they offered to people waiting in line.

Do they count the refurbished as new consoles? Does anyone know how the Wii and PS3 are doing in sales?

All 3 Consoles Rough Sales..

So far the Wii is going up strong, and the Xbox 360 jumped ~300k since the last week, the PS3 is dead last, and I hope it stays that way. happy.gif

Thanks for the link. WHOA!!! I thought 5 million was just recent. Honestly I was at Best Buy Black Friday afternoon and stacks of 360s were arranged in a giant cube, no one even looked at them. They must be selling like Stones tickets everywhere else.

And that bundle is a heck of a buy.

If they reach 10 million by Jan I will be more than surprised. I doubt they will get to it. Maybe 8 million, 9 million is a stretch. But I don't think everybody can afford a 360. This season people aren't as willing to spend as much as they would last year.

i know a lot of people that are talking about getting a 360. when is the question and why is the other question. a couple of my friends became motivated enough by playing GOW at my house others are waiting till halo 3, but the h3 beta might push them to pick up a 360 a little sooner than they originally planned. the other reason why they aren't picking up a 360 is because they don't understand the difference between the ps3 and 360. no one wants to spend money on a machine that is less capable than the other. ms has the potential to do very well in this gen but, people still think of the names "xbox" and "playstation" and base their compairson on history.

also, this is sort of off topic, but 6 out of 8 people that were in line with me to get a ps3 on launch were selling their ps3 to buy a 360. out of the 2 that weren't buying a 360 only 1 person was keeping the ps3, the other was waiting in line for a friend who was selling the ps3 just for profit. and i wasn't either of those 2, i was there to make some profit and buy a 2nd 360 smile.gif

another thing that i've noticed is the original xbox is getting a little more acclaim from the "rich" community. it seems that people within the last 8 - 12 months who trick out their cars, yacths, homes, etc are getting an original xbox over the ps2.
