Xbox 360 Arcade controller - Project Gyokusho
Posted by XanTium | December 5 16:47 EST
From instructables.com: [QUOTE] Well, this is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. I've torn apart a wired 360 controller, put the guts in a pretty box and soldered some arcade buttons and a joystick to it. Thought I'd publish this to give you all an idea of how it can be done and just for general inspiration.
The name, Gyokusho is actually stolen from a japanese chess variant called Shogi. The equivalent of the king is called the Gyokusho or "Jade general". The short hand for that is the sign you can see in the middle of the controller (see image below). Oh, and by the way, it's huge.

Could you make it a little bigger? I don't think I can see the buttons from space yet. I want to be able to play by throwing rocks down and hitting the buttons.
Just ribbin' ya.
That is an awesome mod! Really clean and neat lookin'.

Why would you want wimpy controls when you can get a hefty set of controls that can actually take a beating, it's more like the arcades this way.
Yeah but the actual parts he used are not very high in quality. The box falling apart is not your concern it is the buttons sticking and your microswitches crapping out .

the stick looks kinda far from the buttons but someone needs to make an adapter to use our old joystickes on the 360. I know I'll pay good $$ for one or 2

Dunno who told them that Kanji meant all that. That Kanji by itself just means dama which is representative of only ball, gem, or maybe money depending on the compound usage. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. Ahhh noobs...

yep... three horizontal lines with a vertical line through them means king, but with that little extra line in the bottom right, it just means "ball." Nothing that a magic marker can't fix, though.
