Brand Perception: Wii 1st, Xbox 360 2nd
Posted by XanTium | December 12 22:40 EST

From gamasutra.com:
[QUOTE]
Toronto-headquartered research firm BrandIntel has released the latest in its weekly next-gen tracker studies finding the Wii seeing more competition from the Xbox 360 for positive sentiment.
The tracker bases its 'sentiment averages' based on a number of discussion criteria such as general appeal, purchase intent, and brand image to get an overall look of consumer perceptions of each individual next-gen console.

Microsoft's Xbox 360 maintains a solid overall number two share in consumer perception, despite the launches of its next-gen competitors, maintaining above average sentiment scores in 70% of BrandIntel's criteria. It is, of course, leading by far in availability, with both the PS3 and Wii in short supply. The company has also found it alone covers 45% of all online-gaming related discussion, with 75% approval of its online features. Its current software lineup and graphic abilities also hold it steady against the competition.

The widespread availability has really done well for the 360 this holiday season in comparison to the PS3. The Wii of course is new (and brilliant) but the novelty of it will definitely wear out over the next few months when everyone is tired of the sports games and find that the other games really aren't worth playing, especially with that remote.

I agree. The wii is has some major initial fun factor, but will wear out when other games similar to Rayman come out and suck. At least PS3 is dead last

Whenever I hear an argument like this against Nintendo consoles I can't help but envision the poster as little more then a child themselves trying to act older, only failing miserably and reinforcing the fact that they're quite young.

I bought a Wii, I've got a Gamecube as well, I played the GC quite a bit in college. We'd have Smash Bros and Mario Kart tournaments, and the Resident Evil games were just awesome on that machine. Not to mention other cool games like Geist, MGS, and Metroid. Don't get me wrong I'm not buying into the "young at heart" crap, I just enjoy good quality games.

As someone in my mid twenties I still play Gamecube games and I'm interested in what the Wii has to offer. Just because something features brightly colored graphics doesn't mean it's for children, I submit that anyone who genuinely believes that probably isn't old enough to have remembered the 80s.

I'm also not ignorant enough to write off a console that uses a new type of controller this early in it's life-span with little to no basis or reasoning behind my opinion.

My zelda save would like to beg to differ. 70 Hours of gameplay later and I want more of it. It melds EXTREMELY well with the wiimote. I couldn't even see myself playing it on the gamecube like I can on the wii now. And now that nintendo announced they're working on a Wii only version of zelda, I can't wait. I'm with twisted, I bought it and the GC cause I like well made games, and Nintendo's first party games are some of the most innovative and better playing games out on the market today.

Other than the fact you type like a techt, retarded mongoloid, you will most likely be proven wrong as your quote (without the hilarious misspellings and grammar) was said before the DS's release, which is pretty much going to be the greatest selling console of all time in Japan, especially now that Dragon Quest is coming to the DS instead of the PS3).

Are Wii's on shelves? I haven't been to a store in a couple of weeks, but when I was looking for one, I couldn't even find a display to test the controller. Someone was saying that the Wii is widely available, but around here I haven't heard that. So are Wiis in stock right now?

i love my 360. but also love my wii. The wii is fun and I doubt nintendo will let that fun factor expire by not making MORE fun games. And if you won't play/buy a PS3 because the way it looks despite any games, then why do you hate the wii? i say that because the wii is the slickest looking of the 3 consoles (not that the 360 is ugly) i would give it to the 360 but the HD ruins the symmetry of the sytem. And zelda is awesome (of course).

I bet I know a simple thing that would make some of those wii haters get a wii! remember goldeneye and perfect dark for N64? well when I first learned the wii was going to have pay for roms for download I thought to myself cool, i won't buy them though because I own all those old games (I am a collector) plus I have the roms. But what if nintendo some how added online multiplayer to those 2 games? i know I would download that and pay whatever subscription fees to play them.

Let me start by saying I currently own a Wii. And I'm selling it on ebay as we speak.

I love the thing. The problem is that I already beat Zelda and none of the sports games other than tennis interest me. I had a look at the other games available currently and it just isn't worth it for me to hold on to the console right now when I can sell it and make a profit. Even used systems are selling for $400+ on ebay right now. I'll buy another when they're available again. Call me an opportunist.

I'll be buying a 360 with my profits. I wasn't planning on selling at all, until my friends all bought 360s on black friday. I felt left out, while swinging my wiimote and looking over at their graphics which are 10x better.

Playing wii sports reminded me of playing super mario bros. and duckhunt when I was a kid on Christmas morning. It is that fun.

Oh, and wii's aren't on shelves really, legendary. Stores do get the occasional shipment, but they sell out immediately. You've got no hope of getting one without camping out.

God damn you are shallow. Just because it's a little ugly you don't want it. Need I say anymore?

I think twisted pointed out all the other crap from your post.

Personally I will be getting a Wii, but only when I can just walk into my local GAME and take it off the shelf and pay 180 pounds for it. Before pcrat or whoever pipes up... I am not a kid. I just want to play good games.

lol

Wii seems cool when I get more money will get one possibly not alot of games out for the system yet. I love the 360 Im getting addicted to xbox live arcade and those ms points can go quick laugh.gif . Sony has been a bag ever since they put rootkits on there music cds then the thing with lik sang screw sony. I have a ps2 but I never play it I got it used after I bought my original xbox and I dont like the controller or the graphics as much as the original xbox one the original xbox controller seems sturdier and more well made and the graphics seems less blury and less jagged then the ps2s mentioning this to say won't be buying a ps3 not to mention the price way too expensive for a video game console.
