Ok, so this is my first post to this board although I've been reading and utilizing a lot of advice that is posted on here. I have modded about 6 or 7 xbox's with the xchip before. I've done solderless installs as well as pin header installs. I find the pin header to normally be more reliable once installed correctly.

My problem is this. As stated in the description, I have a 1.0 board with the xchip pin header install. With the chip off, it boots to the xbox dashboard. With the chip on, I get the old cycle on/off 3 times then stays on with the FRAG. There is no video with the FRAG.

I have checked over the board for solder splashes with a 10x magnifier and didn't see any. I have used a voltmeter to check connections. resistance, and made sure I didn't lift any traces.

Here are the voltage readings that I get with the chip off and box powered on. Votmeter is set to 20V max.

Pin 1 - 0.05V
Pin 2 - 0v
Pin 3 - 3.34V
No pin 4
Pin 5 - 5.14V
Pin 6 thru pin 11 - 3.34V
Pin 12 - 0V

I have checked the chip in another box that is modded and it works fine.

I am enclosing a link to two pictures of the install, if anyone can see an issue, please let me know.

Thanks everyone in advance for your help!!!

I have this exact problem at the moment although i haven't checked the voltages.

when i first put the pin header in pin 7 wasn't soldered correctly and the modchip would only boot up with evoX
single press on turned on off 3 times then frag - no video
press on 2 seconds booted up evox ok
press 5 seconds (for flash chip) fragged.

When i 'fixed' the soldering for the header evox no longer started and frag.

removing the chip causes the xbox to frag (D0 ok)
remove D0 from ground, xbox boots as factory.

I have tryed the alt points but no change.

I think i will desolder the pin header and try it again.

Did u put your x-chip at right orientation? Try both oriatation.
And make sure when you boot in MS dashboard, the time and date are current.

sounds like the chip's bios might be rooted
can u take it off and reflash the chip externally
if the box is bootin with the chip turned off and doesnt boot with the chip on
thats a good sign that the bios on the chip might be corrupt
