The green lights were annoying me so I decided they should be blue.
I didn't see anything on here about how to take them apart are anything
so I just went at it. Its kind of amateur but it it works.

To take it apart you pull the grey piece off of the lens. Once out of the
way find something flat and not sharp to prey open the main body by
inserting it into the crease around the sides and twisting. Its a little tight
but it will come out.

After that there are only 4 screws holding in the circuit board but you don't
need to remove that to change the LED's.

Changing the LED's are pretty simple to change once your in there.
You can follow llamma's tutorial on how to remove SMD LED's and
solder them in. Just use a multi-meter on the diode function to check
the orientation of them.

Once your done you'll have a nice new color staring at you when ever
you use the cam.

I hope this helps some of you out, let me know if you all have any questions.

Can you make the pictures smaller and then put a link to the larger picture? It's kind of tedious to keep scrolling back and forth to read the text and look at the picture lol. It's a cool tutorial nonetheless.

The problem that I found when painting mine was the clear part that the light shines through. I couldn't get it apart from the base and I didn't want to paint over it. I ended up putting grease over the clear part very carefully and then painting it, then wiped off the grease and scratched off any paint that was on it. Would have like to get the piece right out, but it didn't work out that way. lol.

heres a link to some old pics of mine. its been touched up a bit since then

I'll mess with it and let you know if I can get it out. I was to lazy to wip out the ol airbrush just for that. I've got some other things I need to paint so I'll wait til then.

FInally somebody posted the pics, and VOILA! 3 minutes after.... OPEN! THank you for the pics and tut. This will come in handy! Good work!

Would a diagram to show the direction of current for the leds be possible? (+/-)

*** NVM, I got them with my multimeter ***

The grey piece comes off just by getting your nails in there and pulling it off. Be careful we getting it together though so you can still focus your camera. When its only the grey piece that needs to be put back on first twist the lens (black piece) to the right until it stops. When you put the grey piece back on you'll notice a longer tab on the bottom of it, that is to stop the camera at the minimum focus. So you'll notice a tab on the inside circle of the frontplate. Position the tab on the grey piece just under it and snap it back in and viola your done.

Sorry about that, didn't think about the tutorial until after I did the lights. I went back to do it but the multimeter is strong enough to light the new leds. If someone wants to post the polarity for me I"ll update the pictures for the people who don't have a multimeter.

I'm glad someone finally put a tut with pics and polarity designations. I had to guesstimate based off the markings on the board, luckily....I guessed correctly for all 4. I guess I could have done the tut too....but my digital camera sucks.
