Preview Dashboard Themes Before Buying
Posted by XanTium | January 2 00:48 EST

From mattbrett.com:
[QUOTE]
I'm extremely happy to announce the "top secret Xbox related site" I've been working on for the past few months is up and running! Dashboard Themes is the first and only site that allows you to preview Xbox 360 dashboard themes as they appear within the dashboard before dropping any coin on them. The current state of the Xbox Live Marketplace doesn't give you an option to preview content before you pay and Microsoft's online components for Marketplace content don't do much better. I came up with an idea to fill this gaping whole, and along with my good friend Andrew McTeer, made it happen.

You can read more on The Why, Who and How on the site itself. And be sure to check out the FAQ if that doesn't cover it.

It's about friggin time something was done for this. Too bad I waisted soo many points on some ugly half-assed themes... grr.gif

Useless to me now that my 360 crapped out on me too...

Ummmmm....

I don't mean to burst this guy's bubble, but Xbox.com has let you preview themes for almost a year now here:

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/themes.htm

ROFL.

I agree, but this new website does allow you to preview exactly how the blades and the font looks with the background image...still it is kind of re-inventing the wheel...

Well in his defence - xbox.com only shows you how the background picture itself looks like. However, dashboardthemes.com shows you how it looks like in the actual environment - with all the blades and such around.

It's the principle that counts. Not to mention the idiot guy running the site claims it's the "first" and "only" place to preview the themes. As I showed, that's 100% false.

Sure he's overlaid the actual blade pictures on the actual dash, but Xbox.com's showing of the themes is MORE than fine enough.

I bet that guy will feel like an idiot when (if not already) he's found out his website is now 90% useless.

LOL

Ive never bought a theme and never will. Id rather just load up my own backgrounds. You can only have one image for all the backgrounds but thats okay, then just change the blade color to match.

This is sweet i think. You can see the way the dash will look istead of xbox.com's shitty previews. Personally i think the previews should be more detaild when you download them from the market place because there has been a couple themes i have downloaded and they looked like shit on the console. sad.gif

or if you go to http://dashboardthemes.com/about he kinda talks about the other sites preview, im pretty sure this guy isnt an idiot. and he doesnt overlay the pictures, him and a buddy buy the themes and capture an image of it to post the actual theme, as you can see some are fugly when applied

edit: for instance check out the Forza 2 Guide blade thing, ugh
