Due to the amount of posts regarding this subject I'm going to address this matter here.
The ideal size of plexi for making case windows mounted under the plastic is 2mm, this will allow clearance of around 1mm from the heatsink.
If your plexi happens to be a little thicker and happens to make contact with your CPU heatsink, worry not..
The heatsink DOES NOT get hot enough to melt your plexi!
the melting point of plexi is around 130-140°C (265-285°F), The Heatsink gets nowhere near that temperature.
Prolonged use of a console with plexi touching the heatsink may cause slight discolouration of the plexi but most brands protect against this type of thing, check your plexi out before you buy it.
