NDP numbers are the only official numbers for sales in USA.
If you don't believe gamasutra, you can also find the December NDP numbers on
http://www.next-gen.biz/index.php?option=c...25&Itemid=2"NPD measures roughly 60 percent of U.S. video game-related retail sales and makes projections on the remainder of the market."
http://today.reuters.com/news/articleinves...7-Dec-2006+RTRSNPD is not 100% cold hard fact.
I wouldn't say NPD is an "Official" number.
It would be more precise to say that NPD is ONLY the market research institution that tries to measure games retail results in the US and also is the source that has the largest access to retail chains/stores numbers, even that is NOT 100%.
It's the best we have in US, but I wouldn't go and say it's the official once it makes projections to get to the final numbers.
Specially when it tries to guess what Wal-Mart sold.
