QUOTE(Rotfloljfk @ Jan 20 2007, 04:40 PM) I would probly get 360 and Wii but I chose 360 + PS3 So i could sell the PS3 and then buy a Wii and have at least 250$ left. HAHA!
Now thats funny I don't have a Wii yet but I played Wii sports bowling and had a lot of fun with it. I even bowled my average 140

QUOTE(jester_race @ Jan 20 2007, 08:02 AM) Time do some WiiFending. I don't think you quite get it.... There really isn't anything NEW about the Xbox360 or the PS3... sure better graphics and stuff, BUT they are just doin' the same OLD thing with a face lift. Nintendo is TRYING SOMETHING NEW unlike everyone else.
and all this jazz about Kiddy games... if it's fun, PLAY IT! you don't have to be all macho about it.... what's wrong with exercising your timing and coordination with a game like Monkey Ball? Also, First Person Shooters can get borring after a while.
Another thing, the whole "I HAVE TO HAVE BETTER GRAPHICS!!!" Sure, they should improve the graphics and stuff over time, but it should be all about the CONTENT? Also, why should it matter if the Wii plays DVD movies or not? if you're going to have 2 consoles, the Xbox360 plays DVDs. Also, most people nowa days have a DVD player already. what's the point in having 10 devices that do the same thing?
Plus, Nintendo had 'the regular person' in mind, someone who can't sling around $400-$600 on a whim... Ok, I'm done =)
Ok i kinda agree with this in the sense that nintendo is trying to do someting new, but didnt they try that with the virtual boy? Im not saying that the wii is a bad system. I am just saying i dont think that the wii can compete with the big boys. The Gamecube , while it had good games, it just had hard time trying to compete with M$ and Sony. I totally agree that looks dont make a good game. I remember nintendo looked way better than sega as far as nba live, madden, and mortal kombat. I personally preferred playing those games on Sega due to the better and smoother controls. Once again, you are right with the fact that nintendo makes a system to appeal to everybody as far a price goes, but dont forget that nintendo games on the snes were like $70 back then. At the time, that was really expensive for just a game. So lets not forget that nintendo once had a firm grip on the market even with very expensive games and equipment. So while Sony as of now isnt making waves with the lineup of games that are available, i highly doubt that many gamers will be just turning the other cheek when MGS comes out. I just dont understand how people can just bash the PS3 being its been out not even 3 months. Talking to a buddy he brought up a good point. Most people that bash the PS3 are on these forums. Most people on here are so in love with M$ gaming systems now, that bashing the xbox main competition is just a natural reaction. I can see where he would get that assumption from. Lets not forget that now gamers are of all ages. Most people prefer M$ or Sony. If you dont belive me then just compare sales of M$, Sony, and GC. I for one will buy a PS3 eventually. Im a very proud owner of a 360, and dont regret spending over $1000 on the console, hd dvd and games along with live. Most people would say thats way too much to spend on a system, but when u have quality games on a console, in the end its all worth it. So, in closing the PS3 may have draw backs as does the Wii and even the 360, but if history continues, then M$ and Sony will once again be on top while the Wii will have small but loyal following. ok im done Cheers People!

i got the wii60 combo, i really havent played my 360 since, i would NOT have bought the 360 if i woul have for seen Oblivion on the PS3, M$ consoles only make a good FPS, not my game(Oblivion was a strech for me) I am looking forward to Alien Hominid HD that game(ps2version) was a lot of fun. I still love my mod XBOX. also my understanding is SONY TVs are the best for gameing.Hate what what you want but I will choose what works for me. BTW, i have 50in SONY wega LCD(for more then 2yr and NP)my friend is already looking to replace his DLP(1yr).

Points taken... well, one of the major drawbacks of the gamecube was the media format.... the disks were simply too small for a lot of the games that could have come out for the gamecube, I noticed there were some games that came out for the cube that looked much better than the PS2, the hardware was better than the PS2, but they couldn't fit all they wanted to on those small ass disks. As far as the virtual boy goes, they were TRYING SOMETHING NEW! sometimes you hit, sometimes you miss. Nintendo is still doin' something right otherwise they wouldn't still be pumpin' out systems and games.

the thing everyone is overlooking is the crisis the gaming industry is in. Nintendo is breaking the mold out of necessity. Game Development is too expensive on the 'TRUE' next gen consoles, but if they can offer a unique experience, low development costs become a larger profit margin. Nintendo has a plan and makes money regardless of their standing in comparison to $ony and M$.
The current trend in development is throwing about 30 million at a game that HAS to make at least that back. This means for the most part, very little risk taking and an overly fast development time.
M$ has the cash to toss around. if they take a loss in one area, like the Xbox, they can make it back in vista licenses and office suites and chalk it up to the expense of completely owning the industry.
Sony is in danger, they made some cash on the Ps2, but mostly for the hardware and software licensing (they only released a handful of titles,) but they squandered it all on new proprietary formats and failed support for the PSP. They have announced that gaming is only a secondary aspect of the PS3, and it is more of a home theater centerpiece.
If all I looked at was the last generation, I would have compared the 360 to the Dreamcast, bought a Wii for Resident Evil 4, and buy the Ps3 after i see a game like GTA3. Yet this time through none of these assumptions apply, so i dont see the point of looking at the last generation as an example of the future.

QUOTE(ownagesbot @ Jan 15 2007, 04:29 PM) I choose 360&PS3
The PS3 isn't overpriced if you think like this:
360+HD-DVD drive = Same price as PS3 and seeing as PS3 has built in bluray + owns the 360 on system specs seems to me fair.
I do love the wii, but the graphics are in the region of DIABOLICAL
Yeah......... PS3 owns nothing in system specs, well Wii but not 360. Do some reading on Sony's numbers, people have revealed the true numbers and its not impressive. Suffice to say PS3 IS NOT more powerful. Simple as that. Owns the 360, man your a n00b.

QUOTE(twistednailsofv @ Jan 15 2007, 12:31 PM) to me the XBO360 and PS3 seem like a better choice... One has Blu-Ray and the other HD DVD (via add on).
The fact that is the Wii is impressive, but the last thing I would dare buy. It may look nice and sport pretty neat features, the whole Wii-mote thing and all... However, the max Resolution of 480p and the lack of ability of even playing a DVD movie, that right you CANNOT even watch a movie it, it's pretty much strictly a Gaming system plain and simple, the graphics aren't even that great, it's just a revision of the GameCube to me.
Wow... thats all I've got to say to that.. your dense dude.. I've just gotta re-quote this part.. "that right you CANNOT even watch a movie it, it's pretty much strictly a Gaming system" <--- wow... Um... hm... have any nintendo products supported video playback? Is it like an advertised feature..? The Wii wasn't made to playback movies, and honestly if your going to get a PS3 just for bluray your dumb. HD-DVD and bluray both support the same aspect ratio.. your dumb dude.. I just wanna say it one more time... your dumb. Oh by the way I totally dig the Xbox 360 & Wii combo, I love my 360 for my geeky gaming addiction and the Wii makes a great system to play with friends that don't have hardcore gaming addictions such as my own.
