Hi all,

Whilst waiting for a final part for my 'Aftercooler' project, I had a spare couple of hours and came up with this !

It's basically a mod to remove the oh so annoying whine of the PSU fan - and replace it with a Passively cooled solution (aka Very Large Heatsink ...) biggrin.gif

For those that want to have a go at this one - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE respect the mains voltage and make sure it's not plugged in when you take apart the PSU !! ohmy.gif [

well my psu has never been loud but it does get hot, this is good for whoever doesnt want to get their psu so hot after playing hours, good job happy.gif

I hear it when I'm playing a HD-DVD on the Xbox 360 and the scene in the movie is quiet, it's a much higher pitch the main fans - perhaps it was just my unit ... sad.gif

Still - it's modified now ! You can't get quieter than 0dB .. smile.gif

with the 360 making so much noise does the psu make that much noise??? mine doesnt... can barelly hear anything over the dvd drive spinning at 1000000 rpm...

.. agree on the DVD Drive - but I use my 360 for HD-DVD as well and that drive IS totally silent. I could hear the PSU above the rear fans believe it or not ... :-o
