When the Halo 3 multiplayer beta surfaces in spring 2007, those owners of Crackdown that have access to an Xbox 360 Pro console or an Xbox 360 Core console with hard drive and a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription simply need to load their copy of Crackdown into Xbox 360 and use the disc as a key to download the beta from Xbox Live Marketplace and join the battle in Halo 3 multiplayer.

Does that mean, you just need the game to get the beta? Like If I rented it or borrowed it from a friend I could download the beta too? Do they just allow each game just one entry, or is there a code assigned also? If anyone has any more details, that would be sweet. I don't want to buy a game just to get into the Beta, but if I could rent or whatever, I would do that....

Yeah, best of luck to all here. One thing M$ really needs to do is give out a beta code with all new premium 360 consoles.

Well, when I participated in the beta of shadowrun; Microsoft sent me a key that you type in the redeem code area. So if the beta is like that, most likely you will have to buy the game or participate in the other two options.

To make it short theres going to be a key assigned.

Yeah, if they email me a key, there is no way I am going to pay for Crackdown just to get to be able to download the Halo 3 beta. I will rent it or borrow the disc from someone.

Mmm...I can't wait for the Halo3 beta. I hope I don't have to play Halo2 for 3 hours on Feb 2nd (or whenever), nor buy crackdown.

Edit: when does it say the beta starts, or can you get it right now if you have an invite?

When does it start though? i got one as well but no code or anything.. my friend said months from now.. but who the hell sends out beta invites months ahead of when it starts? thats just dumb

my plan is just like xbla....share the beta with freinds whom you each have your accounts on their boxes.....so simple to restore your acct on a 360 no need for a mem card anymore....and we all just pitch in for games and share them across boxes.....which the beta sounds like itll work the same way....cant wait though

and to whom ever said i bet ppl will be buying a 360 just to play the beta....well not only the beta but im not buying my 360 till the new halo 2 maps are released!!




and by the way bungie just says "Spring" release for the beta and maps
