I have a Hitachi 3120L Rom version 59 drive which I am trying to get into Mode B using Slax1 boot cd. I am using TextBooks tutorial to guide me through but am running into a hitch

Have followed the tutorial to the T but after running Slax linux cd and removing the cd and rebooting the pc it refuses to find my sata HDD. IF i turn off the xbox and disconnect it from the pc and then restart the pc no worries it finds my Hdd. My Hdd is on Sata1 and I am connecting the Xbox on Sata2. I know the chipset on my Motherboard is compatiable because I have flashed some samsung drives. Has anyone else had this problem of there Hdd hanging when rebooting the pc after running Slax. Really need to get this sorted all help much appreciated. Just in case I am doing something wrong here is how I am exactly trying to do it

Pc and xbox connected together via a Sata cable to Sata2

Put Slax into Pc drive and turn pc and xbox on together at the same time

pc boots off cd and loads linux and the end I get a Login promt and which point I press the turnoff button on my pc and it ejects the cd and then turns off

At this point the xbox is still running and connected to the pc via a Sata cable

I then start up the pc without any cd and after about 30-40secs it tells me it cannot find my Sata Hdd

Thanks Cubix

because your chipset it compatble with the samsung drive does not mean it is compatable with hitachi drives.
give this a try
try booting with slax then when you reboot your pc pull the sata cable out of ur dvd drive (dont turn off the power). Let widows boot, when widows has loaded reconnect the sata cable and eject the tray a couple of times to get it recognised in window

I had to put my hdd on sata2 and my 360 on sata1. I dont know if this helps but thats what I had to do.

Unfortuneatly no joy, the drive defo seems to be in ModeB as it takes two presses to get it to eject and when closed will eject back out. But for what ever reason does not want to show up in windows. Have tried Sata0 and Sata2 connections on the Motherboard. Have tried plugging the xbox drive back in when windows is on the boot screen/ when it gets to windows login and when login into windows but no joy with any and all the time ejecting/closing the drive. My chipset is this one, can anyone confirm it works and if so anymore ideas.
