Moved to Newbie Chat.

I suggest you start with Textbook's latest Hitachi tutorial

Hi,

I'm a newbie too... Well Slax is linux which is self bootable. (Make sure you have your BIOS to Boot from CD first.)

to find Slax, just google and it will pop up.

BTW, what pci sata card are you using... I'm having a hard time getting the pci sata to detect my drive (Hitachi). or is your pc a sata MB... if so, which brand and model.

thx.

I had an Asus mobo th KN9, which is relatively inexpensive for what you get, but it worked wonderfully with the Hitachi drive. It didn't fair so well with the newer samsung's but I did manage to mod an old one with it
