How Much Power Does Your Xbox 360 Use?
Posted by XanTium | January 31 21:46 EST

From planetxbox360.com:
[QUOTE]
So, how much power does the Xbox 360 consume? It uses about three light bulbs worth of power. Here's a chart that will show you the wattage in varying mode of operating status:
Xbox 360 power usage

Additionally, the power consumption of some standard peripherals of the Xbox 360 are displayed in the chart below. Add these values to the states above to get the total usage, as appropriate. Note that the Y-axis here varies by only four watts:

FYI, the PSU is (max) 380 Watts ... it doesn't use so much tho. See http://www.ps3scene.com/news/static/RealPS...-1164917528.php

Ah ok, I was going off of this

"Continuing the power curve, the PS3 sucks up 380 watts of power when played, more than twice as much as the Xbox 360"

Mmm... I'll run some tests in a bit to see how much power the hd dvd drive uses.. and how much the 360 uses when playing an HD DVD.

Can some one compare that to an "average pc"?

And is it expensive to run a 360, or is it nothing to really think or worry about? blink.gif

Thanks

HD DVD drive uses 6 watts while running.. Xbox 360 console itself uses 144 watts while playing back an HD DVD.

Not too shabby wink.gif

My 666MHz Pentium III with 32MB NVidia TNT2 Gfx Card, 256MB RAM, 3 HDDs, NIC, and USB PCI Card uses 40 Watts when idle and max. 60 Watts when 100% busy. The 19" CRT needs more :D

yes of cause that statement would come from an american... you obviously doesnt follow the news about global warming etc.. dry.gif

140+ watts for dvd-playback is a waste of resources... use a standard dvd-player instead wich consumes less than 40watts.. smile.gif

sorry - i was trying to be sarcastic

however - i just don't see why anyone would waste electricity with a 360 as a dvdplayer when it doesnt do the job properly - see http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=583156

and just cuz your electricity is free - doesnt mean you own the right to waste it?..

think outside the box please
