AACS cracked again: WinDVD key found
Posted by XanTium | February 25 13:52 EST

From engadget.com:
[QUOTE]
AACS has already been compromised in at least two widely known ways, after DRM hackers posted on the Doom9 forums methods to retrieve and utilize volume, and later, processing keys to copy every Blu-ray and HD DVD movie released so far. Today a third method has appeared, as poster ATARI Vampire reports they were able to find the "sub device key" of the WinDVD 8 playback software. That key identifies the player and allows it to decode AACS protected titles.

You get "illusory points". They're kind of like gamer points, except they're non-existent and mean absolutely nothing beerchug.gif

wouldn't work...there's too many to keep count...

funny with this crack because WinDVD kept saying that it wasn't their software that was vulnerable...

Could have sworn I replied earlier...

It's good that the DRM has been hit, but that key will be revolked on newer discs, or rather should be.

Let's say it is revoked. There will be others to find so it really doesn't matter.

But, to be honest, all this news won't matter to me until I can get a HD-DVD burner and HD-DVD burnable media for less than $10/disc. And I have a feeling this won't happen for at least a year or two. Also, since I'm a fan of the HD-DVD camp, let's say Blu-ray wins the war and HD-DVD is 'dead' within a year or two. Well, that will mean by the time HD-DVD burners/media are out that the HD-DVD discs in stores will be cheap as hell anyway.

So much to consider.... *sigh*

To those of you who are fine with using these cracks to play HD-DVD/Blu-ray off your harddrive then kudos but myself personally I'll wait until I can burn the discs.
