SICKmods XERC 2 XE
Posted by XanTium | February 26 00:36 EST | News Category: Xbox

SICKmods released a new version of their XERC IR-mod for Xbox1:
[QUOTE]
The latest update to the XERC family is now for sale - the XERC 2 XE. This version includes a diode onboard so you can directly connect the MS DVD Kit dongle to the XERC to share the same IR receiver.
SICKmods XERC 2 XE

If you are unfamiliar with the XERC, it is a small device which allows you to turn your Xbox on and off with your remote. It also allows you to eject and emulate long and short power presses, to enter different boot modes if you have a modchip installed. The MS DVD Kit dongle can be internally hardwired to share the same IR receiver as the XERC 2 XE.

The XERC can be configured to work with many different remotes, and you can change the button setup at any time without opening your Xbox. It also includes a bonus LED Fader feature on the status light. For more info on the XERC, and to view a video of it in action, visit http://xerc.sickmods.net/.

Is anybody working on a real chip for the 360 or are all these "groups" just taking the easy way out with these pointless dvd mods.

Did you even read the article?
This is an IR-mod for the Xbox1 that allows you to boot and power-off your Xbox1 with a remote.

It good to see the diode for the ir signal from the ms dongle is back. Ever since I built one of these for my xbox I can't stop using it.

I was thinking to buy Xecuters X3IR yesterday because I already have the Xecuter 3 CE chip & I think that they'll connect nicely.

hey guys i just got a question about this mod, sorry if its a dumb question . . .

do i have to have the dvd dongle for this to work? and then handwire a few wires to that? or does the mod come with everything i need, because what i want to do is get this mod and use it on a different remote, not the xbox dvd remote, thanks in advance!

The X3IR will make an easier install if you have the X3CP but I think that the XERC is a superior product, but I might be a bit partial wink.gif

This mod will only enable you to turn the xbox on/off by remote, you won't get the official dongles functionality (menu control and stuff like that). But if you only want on/off then you don't need the MS dongle. You don't need the xbox remote for use with the xerc, it will accept any philips, sony or rca remote. All you need for the installation is soldering tools and wire.

I installed the x3ir in a 1.1 xbox and x2.6ce modchip. With my setup, you'll need 5 solder connections (3 if you have an x3 chip I think), so the xerc chip certainly needs more soldering. I don't think the xerc includes wires in a kit. So at first blush, the x3ir is slightly less work to install.

It's great that the xerc has a wireless method to reprogram the ir, as opposed to the x3ir, which needs you to hang an ugly serial or usb port onto the chip.

I've had my xerc2 SE installed for a few months now and it's never let me down. I might buy one of these for my spare Xbox.
Thanks SICKmods smile.gif
