I am having problems with my Xbox 360 and I don't know weather to get it replaced. My disc drive makes a wierd buzzing noise when I am playing games but the console is working fine, anyone have any idea what is going on.

if you're still under warranty why take a chance. I wouldn't wait for it to breakdown completely.

or even worse , the problem could go away and then show up when your warranty is already expired.

I have had two E74's a while ago a few weeks ago the first one had every light quadrant apart from the top right light up red and the other time only the bottom right was light up red.

Hi,
On a similar note to the topic and to stop multiple threads i'll post here.

My sammy drive is making crazy noises too, It's when i've finished playing a game and press y to enter the dash board and "BARKKKKKKK" my drive makes a massive Howl...Is this normal??

It isn't modded in anyway and seems to be only every now and again! At first i thought it was damaging games but it ain't (well if you don't include the usually 360 scratches).

I did come up with a theory that it has something to do with the ball bearing that sensors if the console is horizontal or vertical (never used vertical) vibrating when the disk spins down.

Should i call M$??? this would be the fourth time or should i wait a while??? I've got until June until the warranty
runs out???

yeah mine can be very loud at items too....nothing to worry about

and the sensor that tells it if it is vertical or horizontal isnt in the dvd drive, or even near it

Hi first things first,

I never said the sensor for horizontal or vertical positions is in the DVD drive thats just stupid and considering i'm doing an electrical and electronic degree i would hope i knew that....

Secondly the disk drive only makes this noise during spindown which is why it concerns me. I'm wondering if other peoples drives do the same? My bro's Hitachi drive doesn't do it but thats a different make.

My Samsung does the same thing, only when it reads at 12x though. Sounds like the disc is rubbing against something or grinding but I take it out and it's fine.
