Xbox LIVE Reaches 6 Million Members 4 Months Ahead of Schedule
Posted by XanTium | March 6 11:35 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From gamerscoreblog.com (FYI: Microsoft owned blog):
[QUOTE]
At E3 this past year, Microsoft announced the goal that the Xbox LIVE community would be 6 million members strong by June 2007. We underestimated ourselves.
Microsoft is proud to announce today that more than 6 million gamers worldwide are connected to Xbox LIVE, a milestone that was reached 4 months ahead of schedule. Xbox LIVE, the premier online entertainment network, offers the best in online gaming, ubiquitous voice, video and text chatting, Achievements, demos, trailers and more.

Some Xbox 360 Momentum Facts:
* More than 10 million Xbox 360s have hit store shelves since launch in November 2005, and more than 160 high definition games are now available.
* The overall software attach rate for Xbox 360 is 4.6 titles per console in the United States with a record-breaking accessory attach rate of 2.9 units per console.
* More than 6 million people are members of Xbox LIVE.
* Following the launch of the Xbox LIVE online gaming network in November 2002, gamers have spent over 2.3 billion hours on the network playing games online with their friends around the world. This is equal to 95 million days of gaming or over 260,000 years. With our top title, Halo 2, which is being played on both the Xbox and Xbox 360, gamers have spent over 710 million hours playing online with over a half a billion games played.
* Xbox LIVE on Xbox 360 continues to grow as a social community; we are seeing an average of over 2,000,000 text and voice messages sent every day between members on the service.
* The average Xbox LIVE Gold subscriber has 22 friends on their Xbox LIVE friends list.
* To date, Xbox 360 owners have unlocked nearly 300 million Achievements. All of those unlocked Achievements have created a total combined Gamerscore of nearly 7.5 billion.
* Consumers have quickly jumped to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace as their one-stop download center. More than 70 percent Xbox LIVE members are downloading content from Marketplace, driving more than 135 million downloads since the launch of Xbox 360.
* Xbox LIVE Arcade has been an instant hit on the Xbox 360, with nearly 70% of all connected consoles already downloading and playing Xbox LIVE Arcade titles.
* Xbox LIVE Arcade has now surpassed 25 million downloads from its diverse library of original development and classic titles from the world's best independent and established developers and publishers.

There is an option to save or remove your card. You can also go to the Microsoft website and remove your card.

6 million? its all lies.

i made 4 accounts myself, just made a new one when the month free gold expired.
i only done it when i got a new game to try it on live

how many of those 6 million are actively being used? im sure im not the only one adding more accounts and before anyone says "you lose your saves from the profile" so what...if its a new game then it doent matter

I've had my Live account since Xbox 1 days and it was the main reason for me finally upgrading to broadband biggrin.gif . I doubt I'd even own a 360 yet if it wasn't for Live and Marketplace. I hardly ever play games in single player anymore, its just not as much fun as playing a bunch of people from around the world. £36 a year for a gold subscription is excellent value too smile.gif .

That 6 million feature is a bit inaccurate.

I've got 3 XBL accounts myself, 1 gold and 2 silver accounts that I use to screw around, play XBLA demos, or let friends use when they come over.

I've also got and additional 6 XBL Silver accounts on my Xbox that are for friends who wanted their own account, none of them own Xbox 360s and only 2 of them come over frequently to game, the rest have only used those accounts once or twice.

So I'm 1 gamer that is being counted 9 times... I'm sure my situation isn't unique either.

10 million+ on shelves means shipped..?

I like real numbers better smile.gif

4.6 titles per console
2.9 accessories per console (controller, charge kit and..?)
230 hours online each (46 days @ 5hrs/day)
6 million people are members of Xbox LIVE

I wonder how many of those 6 million are on gold.. Where's MS? jester.gif

Don't get me wrong, it's a great gaming service but I don't believe those numbers are accurate. You know they gotta be adding in Silver accounts and 2 months. I can only imagine how many of those 6 million are Halo 2 modder accounts that are banned within 6 hours. Either way, there's no doubt that it is the premiere console online gaming community to date! XB Live Arcade and Marketplace are what hooked me into getting a 1 year account! Good job M$! biggrin.gif

What I want to know is why I paid for one month of xbox live and still have a gold membership 4 months later. My old cred card ran out money in dec. Am I going to owe MS money or is it there fault?
