First Xbox 360 Elite pics? Probably Not.
Posted by XanTium | March 22 13:53 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From engadget.com:
[QUOTE]
We can't guarantee that any black Xboxen from here until the launch of the Xbox 360 Elite won't just be shots of the original 360 dev kit that was sent around, but we've already got our first batch of "confirmada" Elite pics that sprung up.

Update: Our trusted source that confirmed the Elite let us know that these shots are quite fishy; they don't have the same plastics details as the real Elite, nor does the retail box match up.

Note: the black 'Elite' Xbox360 with 120GB HD and HDMI is really coming out however, but not announced officially by MS yet.

Yeah, that looks really fake. That doesn't necessarily mean the elite itself is fake though.

Every time I hear "xbox elite" I think "The demon is here! HOLY LIGHT!!!"

I waited to long for a black version, so i made my own, sure it dosent have HDMI, but i dont see it as a "must have feature", especially when im more than happy with the VGA picture i am seeing now. I will be buying one of those 120gig harddrives, or cloning a friends, suppose it depends on the price.

Wonder if ms will be offering any sort of trade up value on th 20gig HDD's?

no one says that both can't exist together...they will probably get along with each other just fine...

i wonder what else MS may have up their sleeve and i am waiting to see if they will confirm the 65nm chips are inside the elite...

Here's the big question. Will the HDMI version still retain the optical digital output for those of us who don't have HDMI input on our receivers but do have it on our monitors?

Personally, if I get this, it'll be because of black and 65nm (hopefully quieter?), not because of HDMI and the 120 gig hard drive. I don't have a 360 yet, so this is perfect for me.

I would love to hear an official answer from MS *either* way on the validity of this story - but I think they are content with letting Sony also scramble and figure out how to respond accordingly.

i definately think it's fake. if you look close, there are the sae shadows in both of them, i wish they would take a picture of it so it wouldnt look like a black normal xbox 360. i would also think the harddrive would look bigger. ive been looking on the web for about a month now and i have not found one external harddrive that is bigger than 80 gb and still 2.5 inches. you need it to be2.5 inches in order to fit the hdd case. just letting you know, lol im bored

I think my first pay check will go to one of these, even though I want a new PC first, because the elite will be limited edition and I want black, I prefer black so much more to white. I even have a Black Video Ipod that will hook up with the Elite 360 very nicely indeed.

1. 120 GB SATA 2.5" drives are easy to find
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....Serial%20ATA150

2. Why are you looking at external drives? all external drives are just internal drives in an enclosure... buy any number of 2.5" drives listed above... ad a $15 enclosure and volia you have a 120 or 160GB external 2.5" drive. Not to mention being external means you have substantially more room so most "prebuilt" external drives will use 3.5" drives internally just because it's makes little difference to the overall dimensions and the price is substantially cheaper.

the optical isn't on the box, it is on the component cable. don't know how they plan on mixing it with hdmi, i'm sure it'll work fine though.

1- That looks incredibly fake. (not saying the Elite is fake)

2- I want one. 120gb HDD will be nice for when homebrew hits the streets. HDMI will be nice for when I get a 1080p t.v. (for halo3..lol). Although I doubt it will have 65nm technology, it would be amazing if it did. Hopefully they all ship with the newest/quietest dvd drive.

3- black is a sweet color and will match my setup perfectly.

4- I need to find ~$500...fudge pickles.
