Wistron likely to discontinue production of Xbox 360
Posted by XanTium | March 26 12:13 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From next-gen.biz:
[QUOTE]
Xbox 360 manufacturer Wistron is likely to reduce and eventually discontinue production of Microsoft's Xbox 360 in 2008, according to a report on DigiTimes based on a story that originally appeared in Chinese-language newspaper EDN.

The decision is believed to be based on the declining profitability of manufacturing the 360, and the dissatisfaction held by the Taiwanese company over Microsoft's strategic links to rival ODM (original design manufacturer) giant Celestica, which also manufactures the console.

Less companys manufacturing the console, well Prices could rise, or they could fall, depends on the demand. My Guess is the price will fall , but Twards the end price will rise, ( kinda like a classic ).
Like the xbox 1 in a few years people will pay over $150.00 for a system. like an original nintendo.

looks like we will be seeing vauge details on the new xbox 3 within a year or 2.
personally that sucks, since it really dont give the xbox 360 a change to strive.
They will just design a new system with a higher processor, a better graphics core, and most likely the same old discs, weather it be blue ray or hd, it will still most likely be a Disc. so that right there it WONT be no next gen console. better graphics DONT mean NEXT GEN, an either does some high end processor. we will always see a high end processor.

The "next gen" system, wither its a console or a pc, will not use disc's. It will NOT use 1 hand held remote to swing around. Minimum Storage will be atleast 1 TB. Loading/ Access times will be nano seconds. Graphics, Quality will be halographic more than on a screen.
The xbox 360 and all its rival consoles are just compact computers made to run the way THEY want u to run it.
I dont see the xbox nore any rival system comming to any of these anytime soon. so we will have to just stick to 90 degree looking angles.

Ok i'm stupid and didn't take the time to read and understand the article.

I hope this is the factory that have issues manufactoring the 360s.

Sorry guys, wrote a massive post that didn't quite add up huh? huh.gif

Still, this could potentially be good news, so lets hope the 360's life span does become increased.

Cheers beerchug.gif

Maybe this is the factory causing all the 360 problems, and MS is giving them two barrels.

God do ye guys not read??.

MS is not stopping production of the 360's, it's just "One" of the Factory's MS use to make 360's are stopping making them.

MS already have another factory making 360's, and can always get another factory to make them if they want.

And Console prices do not go up while they are still in production they go down.

The only time maybe a console price would go up is when the Company as in MS stop making the consoles.

Anyway in future read everything before ye start making dumb ass comments about the 360 being stopped.
With 10 million consoles sold, and being the current leader in the next gen console wars do you really think they would stop making the 360 so soon?.

I finally get why they keep releasing new xboxes so quickly. Xbox 3 is apparently in the works. One of the reasons they do this so when the system gets hacked/homebrew they have a new one lined up which is unhackble which is sad since homebrew definitely enhances the value of any console esp apps like xbmc.

Hmm dude, so far they have only released 2 consoles, and only one was released soon.

I mean really if you think about it the xbox came in late to the game as it came out 2 years after the ps2.
MS had no chance of catching up to the PS2 with the xbox, and they didn't want the same thing to happen 2nd time around with the 360 so they released the 360 first, trust me the 360 will last atleast 5-6 years if not more before MS release their new console.

I hope you are correct. The 360 is just getting started I dont think they have tapped the full power of it yet. Either way the xbox 3 better have good emulation for 360 games.
