I don't know what state you live in but that is excessive. Are you sure it's not 5 years for having an illegal gun? I live in VA which is a very strict Commonwealth state and it's 5 years for having the gun.

I don't believe in illegal guns, but if you live in an area where you are forced to buy one due to defense reasons and can't obtain one legally (age, felony for something stupid, etc) you shouldn't be punished 5 years per bullet. I mean what's the average clips size of a handgun about 10? That would be 50 years in jail.

you are right - and if your read further it says that the Mexican Government plans on destroying these weapons - no way the government will subsidize the computers, cash, and video game consoles to destroy what it sequestered just to reduce some potential violence or crime.

i imagine that this will just encourage the theft of guns to be exchanged for computers or cash...

it's mexico dude... i live in mexico... in the border with the states


if you are found crossing ammo or firearms in the mexican border you are AUTOMATICALLY transfered to the nearest jail... no questions asked.

Perhaps it's just the gun lover in me but trading a machine gun for a computer sounds like a rip off. Then again I guess machine guns are much cheaper over there on the black market. In the USA it'll cost you about $15,000 for a decent machine gun and tons of paper work.
