On10.net Xbox 360 Elite Video Interview
Posted by XanTium | March 28 15:39 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From on10.net (FYI: Microsoft owned blog):
[QUOTE]
I sat down with Albert Penello to get some of your questions answered. Yes, it has HDMI & 120GB hard drive. No, it doesn't have an HD-DVD player. Yes you can still pull audio separate from the HDMI. No, it isn't going to be a limited edition.

not a limited edition, huh.

then this will just be another "early adopter" 360 since we will be waiting for the confirmed release of the 65nm chips next this fall...and we can still dream about an internal HD-DVD drive.

but for those that like the black finish of the box and accessories, then they will love this box...

2 things that I liked from that interview are; comes with a HDMI cable, and M$ is working on a way that will allow the transfer of content from a 20gb HDD to a 120gb HDD. I hope that means I will be able to easily back up the data on the hard drive. smile.gif

I prefer the white one, but I want HDMI.
But I'm still happy with the first Xbox so I don't mind waiting a bit longer.

take a look back at the main x-scene page for more info on wired.com regarding this. the official MS way to transfer data is absolutely terrible - hopefully 3rd party support will come along...

Nice! Its good to hear that its not limited edition. I think that the black looks great (im a fan of the white also). I wish i could justify spending 470 bucks on something i already had:(... oh well. Mabie someone will have a good deal on a trade in for a normal 360 like they had with the original xbox at launch.

Cool, GREAT NEWS!!!

Thats made my day, I've had such a busy day, and to see it's not going to be a limited edition means I can save up for my new PC not worrying about it not being produced. I love black instead of white, a 120GB hard drive and HDMI is all good. I'm glad I waited on the 360, well worth the wait laugh.gif

I love how he said they don't want people to have to think they need to upgrade. And what in gods name would be 25 gigs that you would be willing to download. LMAO

I can't believe that they lost a damn good opportunity to boost HD-DVD sales by not including an internal HD-DVD drive. External drives suck, no one likes them, it feels like fuckin' Sega CD or something.

As is "is this a limited edition"?, which was answered in the video twice and twice already in this topic.

WHy would they invest all that money into the format? SOny is the ones that created Blu Ray hence they are pushing their format. Microsoft is not willing to put all their apples into one basket like that. Microsoft does not care who wins this format war...the next xbox will have one of the drives but for this generation i don't think it is needed.

Personally I don't give a rats a$$ about HD-DVD or Blue-Ray, so if they added it into their system, internal, and charged more for it, that would be ridiculous. Just think about it, if you wanted HDMI and the only way to get it would be to pay an extra $100 on top of what the elite costs (for that lame HD-DVD player to be included)? MS$ would be Sony at that point, so I for one am glad they didn't include an internal HD-DVD...

If MS$ had a clue they would release a lame motion controller (so easy to do from a technology standpoint, have no idea why Nintendo has this monopolized?) and release and internal HD-DVD/Blue-Ray player. Why not? Just pay the license fees and include a drive tha plays everything! In the meantime, any console that will only play HD-DVD or Blue-Ray, and not both, is just lame. Sony blatantly trying to force their standard on the world by using their game system as a vehicle for it... If MS$ did this, the 360 would rule the console world. In the meantime, I'm still happy with what I've got, because I don't care about gimick controllers or "next-gen" dvd movies...
