Videora Xbox360 Converter v2.16
Posted by XanTium | April 3 00:40 EST | News Category: Xbox360

Red Kawa released a new version of the Videora Xbox360 Converter(info) - a tool that allows you to convert your regular PC video files (avi, mpeg, etc) into the proper video format that your Xbox360 understands.
What's new/fixed:
* Added: Xbox 360 MPEG-2 Support
* Updated: FFmpeg rev8564
* Release Notes: Xbox 360 MPEG-2 support has been re-added to the main conversion core. For now, Videora Xbox360 Converter only converts videos to MPEG-2 format. This means Windows Media Center (2005 or Vista) is required in order to view and playback your converted MPEG-2 videos. We hope to add support for conversion into WMV eventually.
* Upgrade Notes: There is no upgrade available so you will have to download the full installer. The full installer will overwrite your old version so you will loose all your old settings and profiles This version is substantially different from the last and there is no way to keep your old settings and profiles.

Does this work on .mkv. There wasn't any mention of it in the article dry.gif

Well I'll be damned, it does. It might require the right codec pack or something, but I just manually picked the mkv and the program is running.

Yes, there is... a lot of manual work... synching, checking, resynching, checking again...
For me it involves Avisynth, DGIndex, Belight, Windows Media Encoder and other programs, according to the original format I'm converting from.

Yeah, MMConvert is much better than this program. Especially when the creator of Videora keeps on mentioning that there is NO WAY to stream videos without Windows Media Center

Does it support video streaming through Windows Media Connect?

No. There are video sharing capabilities built into Windows Media Connect, however, Microsoft has chosen to ONLY allow you to share Audio and Pictures through Windows Media Connect. You CANNOT stream videos through Windows Media Connect to your Xbox 360

Well, apparently, you thought wrong, sir. rolleyes.gif

From my experience the MPEG playback sucks big time. WMV playback is much better but I really hope they improve MPEG with the next update.

Can you store movies in this format on your regular (non modded) 360? or is this just regarding streaming from the pc to the 360 or do you need to mod the 360 for this to work?

MAC !!!!!! :'(

The Macintosh equivalent to this program is VisualHub. Both use ffmpeg to do the actual work, but VisualHub is cheaper.

Looks like a well usefull app.
one question is concerning profiles for Windows Media Encoder.

i see you can browse or import new profiles.
maybe im being a bit thick, but does anyone have a profile for 720p + 5.1 which would be suitable for streaming to a 360 over a wired network ?
