We've seen a load of these around and we felt that there wasn't anything that wasn't comprehensive or noob-friendly so here is our own tutorial.

Feel free to use this in its unedited form and make sure you give credits and a link back to the original page - thanks.

Were the other guides really that hard? I did the Amandtech(sp?) one with absolutely no problems. They just wrote this up to make it seem as if you *needed* the unlock tool.

It comes with an unlock tool, why wouldn't they use it?

Beautiful install guide..

I agree with proger, the other guides were perfectly capable of explaining how to open an Xbox 360 to a Noob. Dont buy that kit. Go to your local Hardware store and buy them cheaper.

you can buy a 360 unlock kit at a hardware store??

i used a pneumatic nailer's nail, slid in just perfectly.. EDIT: that's what she said lol.

the kit is pretty nice if you are doing some mass modding though

EDIT again: i'm pretty sure that guide was made for people who had already bought the connect kit.. it comes with the nifty piece of plastic.

Sorry i meant the Torx screws. As for the clips. those arent hard to release, all you need is a flathead screwdriver. thats what i use anyways. also you dont need all 7 clips. so i just ut off the ones besides the outside 2. then there is only 2 clips 2 worry about... ( i am talking about the clips in the back. You can cut the ones in the front if you want. i didnt though) Oh and for those of you that dont know. The Torx screw sizes are T7 for the black screws, and T12 for the Silver

There's nothing wrong with having a better tutorial. Sure "they" have one, but this is better, it's more obvious, and it's great for people like me who would be more willing to pay the 15 bucks for a do-all tool with a good tutorial to back it. Leave all the questions out of it.

Agreed - nice and concise tutorial, especially explaining the release tabs for the HDD end are reached from the inside!

I actually find it easier to release the rear tabs before the front ones, as the tension is good for keeping the two parts from closing again. I made my own tool for this - the side of a DVD cake box. The best part is that there's no damage at all to the outside of the case, regardless how much you use it.

Well there are black ones that mount the Hardware inside the 360 asside from the dvd drive. Also just for your info when taking apart the 360, only the 6 long screws are neccesary. Because those are what hole the casing down. Unless you are removing heatsinks and taking out the mother board, only T10 or T12 are neccesary. But yeah, i have never had the need to take out the motherboard yet, so what size torx is are the black screws? d'ya know, I thought they were T7 or T8, but i want to know for sure first. thanks

wow...a case disassemble tutorial...wow dry.gif yeah...i bought the unlock tool for like $8 a few months ago. during that time, i did a search for tutorials. ended up using this one
http://www.xcm.cc/How_to_disassemble_the%20xbox_360_case.htm

wasnt that hard at all. tool was worth the money, imo. my point is, although fresh tutorials are always cool, i kinda laughed when i saw it posted as xbox-scene news. cant help but to think xecuter made this just to really make people think the blaster360 is worth the $75.
no doubt xecuter made the best chips for the xbox, but hyping up a tutorial just to make people think they are getting more bang for their buck is kinda lame tongue.gif
